Its a section 56 that needs to be raised if appropriate.

A brief description of what a section56 is (copied from HERE)

Section 56 of the Highways Act 1980 provides a statutory process by which a member of the public can go to the court and obtain an order requiring a highway authority to repair a highway maintainable at the public expense. The highway authority's room for manoeuvre in this process is limited. If the highway in question is publicly maintainable — even if it is not properly recorded as such — and is out of repair, then the court will make the order the complainant seeks. The highway authority can plead lack of funds or alternative priorities, but these will buy little extra time: once the complainant has satisfied the necessary tests, the order will follow.

The link above is worth a read, maybe worth asking the GLASS rep if he thinks you have a case or if it has been tried?

Ginger,

Yes you read my mind. If we.did it in conjunction with Glass who can cover the insurance needs then even if we got one of them open it would be in the right direction....

Its worth looking into; I've signed up to a couple of GLASS organised ones before(neither of them actually happened unfortunately). Definitely needs sorting out via GLASS or the council.

Without sounding like a stick in the mud; it defiantly needs to be done right as there is all sorts of H&S bull****e to deal with not to mention that if it isn't done in accordance with the councils repairs then it will all have to come up again as they will claim its unsafe etc. :(

Count me in too

I think Tony Ferrari took over from kit Harvey, years ago

I will ask at the pub meet tomorrow who else is up for helping.

Obviously pub meet is open to all and is the kind of thing we all could discuss and arrange either action or a way forward. Tony is quite in with bhclrc and I believe runs the emergency planning or has some input with 4x4 response bhclrc
