@gstuart thanks very much for all the info, it's very much appreciated. FYI it's a 2019 Si4 Auto with stop start.

We are actually off to an Indy this morning so hopefully will know more shortly.

In theory!! Depends how long they sit on the shelf!!!

indeed mate and great point, must confess I had my main battery changed by them because I couldn’t lift the bloody thing

then when I got home plugged it in , really find it so handy with just being able to plug it into my 12s socket instead of messing around trying to lift the bonnet etc

As predicted the battery's dead, getting a new one fitted for £135 + VAT. For the sake of £160 we'd rather do that than mess about going to the dealership which is some distance away.

Well the new battery is fitted, warning has gone but auto stop/start isn't working. Now that's a good thing in my book but my wife's on the way back to the garage as they want to check everything over.

People can like them , not really an issue , ( honest) The problems begin when the ejoke is thought of, (or heaven forbid called), as a Range Rover. It's not. They might think it is, wish it is, even be badged as such, but just like kids in their mum's shoes, they're just pretending.
Personally I think the badging was an error during design processing, and they realised it would be more expensive to fix the fault, and rebadge it to it's correct Freelander 3 identity, than to let the fault run.

Ahh I get you, the trouble is it was running alongside the Freelander for a while so maybe they should have called it the disco sport and kept the Freelander name what is now the disco sport?

Maybe. There are ways it could've been launched. None of them include it being called a Range Rover. It's just not. On top of all the tech/ability details, it cheapens the flagship model by calling it Range Rover. As an example, new Range Rover £130k+, new Range Rover Sport 97k+,the ejoke £37k+, a quarter of the price of a FFRR. It just cheapens the name.

The problem is that in order to ensure the battery gets charged when the car is only used for the school run an ECU has been introduced into the alternator regulator circuit that allows in some cases up to 18 volts to fast charge the battery. Many precautions have to be taken with this as it's possible for the battery to explode if the temperature rises. Plus it generates income for the stealers.

Does it have a second battery just for stop/start? I seem to remember seeing some chatter somewhere.

Firstly we had no idea this was the case until now, secondly we've had it done by an Indy and all seems fine (barring the stop/start)

I've got my doubts a Sport should be called a Range Rover personally...

At least it sounds like it's sorted! I'll stick with the oldschool stuff myself!
