If you can jump start off another vehicle, logic suggests you can charge using a battery charger, which is typically much lower amps and much 'softer' ie not such a big flash of charge on connecting
Just had a look at prices and when I looked at the RAC site (first one google brought up) it says thisE-Joke = Power-Hungry.
New Battery is really cheap.
