i know this question could vary wildly in its responses (quality etc) but generally speaking, how much could I expect to pay a garage for a small bulkhead repair on the corner under the windscreen (I have checked and it's only minor here) solid everywhere else and a good quality exterior only respray in its original non metallic colour? I would be providing brand new doors and hinges all round.

Hope you can help

Hi,

Yes, full body exterior respray in original colour. Inside is fine. The reason I'm suggesting full body is that given that the paintwork has no doubt faded, I'm guessing the colour matching on painting three new doors and corner bulkhead only would not look great.

Cheers

Cheers col,

That's what I thought but is a pain. All that effectively as a result of a 10p sized rust mark on the bulkhead corner! Course I could just get that bit sprayed after repair but don't think it would match well against aged paint. I am fussy to be fair

Any other ideas/methods I may not of thought of apart from 'be less fussy' ?

A professional body shop should be able to blend the repair paint to match the rest of the body colour. After the repair and paint touch up, a good buffing will work wonders.

I've had paintwork done on "faded" cars as well as ones which had odd colours. Both times the results were good - they just mixed up a batch of custom paint. One was perfect, the other was just off and obvious so they reblended the remaining paint and had another go and that was fine. Most decent paintshops will be able to do this without a problem.

That's good too know. I only want a small bulkhead repair done and then colour matched. If it comes out well I will get them to paint and fit 3 new doors too.

The quality of the job will be defined on your budget, if you are prepared to get your bulk head fixed properly i'd recommended a new panel replacement.
Though i don't know the extent of the corrosion, are we talking bubbling paint work or actual rust.

Bare in mind you don't want to come back to the same issue a few years down the line, best to get it sorted properly the first time.
