I've been considering getting one of the van door guards

Van Vault Door Guard Security Padlock Container Vanvault Lock GO NEXTDAY £3.99 8066525009708 | eBay

For the rear door of my disco

However, the wife thinks it will stand out and suggest there are things in the disco and make it more attractive to thieves.

Thoughts?

An Enfield bolt would be more discreet

Security overkill complete!

I'd get rid of that Stoplock and get a full-coverage Disklok mate. A thieving gutterslag would probably use what you've got as a lever to help bust your steering lock and then simply remove the lock by chopping a lump out of your soft steering wheel and sliding it off. Hopeless.

I have got my gear stick lock, but I am deeply reluctant to fit that dome-shaped sheerbolt to the base of the gear lever. Once on, there are no easy means of ever getting it off again, even if I need to do so for maintenance purposes. I'm not keen on that at all. I actually regret ordering it now.

Haha. So be it. I've picked the corner I'm fighting from regarding security...

Not wanting to pee on yer bonfire but with that steering lock on it aint as secure as you might think. (Even I can do a metro lock in under a minute and with very little noise). That gearsick lock would probably take about 1 to 2 mins to get around.

You'd be able to get it off with mole grips. Would just be a hassle. Of you could just leave the old bolt on. It's hidden under the sleeve and by that time they will be in and wanting the car regardless. The point is just to slow people down. I agree with Ratty when they say that if they wan't it they'll have it.

Mole grips on that? No chance. You'd either have to crudely grind slots into the nut and hope for the best or grind the whole lot off - bolt thread and all. No thanks!

Or. Just leave the original nut. It's a deterrent being there. If they have a look under the sleeve it shows they're pretty determined. By that point it wouldn't really matter what bolts on there.

Im planning on fitting a snap off Momo steering wheel. Take the steering wheel with me, fuel cut off switch, all the thieving bastard can do is attempt to tow it on to a low loader.

My Td5 now nose to nose to my trailer, two separate chains and padlocks around both,Ardcace fitted.no chance of them getting it at night while I'm home and will defiantly give them problems in the daytime.

There is actually a valve that is designed for this purpose

SV solenoid fuel valves - FW Murphy Europe

It is actually designed for diesel engines, it uses diesel for its own lubrication and operated from a simple 12 volt feed... being only open when 12 volts is applied.

It is not as cheap as yer other options... but I do have some here if anyone wants one...
