Can anyone shed any light on this please. I have bought a Range rover classic which I am trying to get the brakes working. I have fitted a new set of seals in the master cylinder and bled the brake as per several advice note on this page including gravity, but when I push the peddle down it feels to go hard half way down but then releases and goes down to the floor. What am I missing please?

There's air in it somewhere. You cannot compress brake fluid that's how it works , but you can compress air. It getting in from somewhere. Not familiar with RR braking systems.Did you reassemble correctly ? There will be a sequence to bleeding the system as well.

Thanks John. It's possible but it is a duel system so I thought the front system would have some pressure. I changed each part one by one copying the original so quite confident it is together okay. I'll prove the master cylinder by isolating of from the pipes and if that works rebleed the whole system. I still need to prove the servo works so the fun is not over yet. The whole car needs a lot of work on it so definitely work in progress.

Brakes working and thanks for the feedback. Replaced the master cylinder and the servo and borrowed a vacuum pump.
