When you think about it though if your tank guard is 10mm or 1/2" the weight difference isn't going to be huge ;) you could even skimp on the top and sides tbh as they can be chassis thickness

Although if it was me I'd be tempted to try and fit twin mini tanks into the space between slider and chassis then put a guard across if you don't want too much extra weight and want to keep space

Hello again y'all im back with a rather small update.

It's not alot in the grand scheme of things but at least she's starting to look more like a car again! :D well at least the back end is

Finally got round to welding in the alpine windows. Will definitely need some filler work but at least they are welded up. The metal was a PITA to get to the right shape although it probably didn't help i used 2.5mm steel. :p

Oh and the rear quarter panels are back on :) not that they are the originals as i completely buggered the blue ones when i ripped them off. :( big thanks to alexr for the new ones! :)

Only other thing i have to tell you is ive now put in my newly painted centre console and associated bits. Definitely need to extend the transfer box lever slightly as its now a bit short and yes before you mention it i know i need new gaiters. :p still only the door cards to paint and the interior is pretty much sorted. Except boarding out the back van stylee.
Oh and put a new boot floor in, and put new carpet in, and get a dash pod from mudstuff for switches and stuff, and fit new led interior lighting, and fit a new sound system and, and, and :blah:

On the plus side i did manage to give the garagea good tidy today tthough and found lots of bits that went missing:)

Looks mucho betterer! :D

And because of the eye issue i couldn't do much so decided to continue with stripping down the v8 at long last.

I now have a bare block

Then had a go at cleaning the block and managed to get it looking like this. On the plus side i can still see all the hone marks on all the cylinders even on the thrust side so all is good on that front.

Nothing a die grinder and some wire brushes wont sort:)

looks good so far.. got any pics of the eye ;) hehe

Had a feeling someone might ask that:rolleyes:

Tbh though i didn't think about it at the time i would take a pic now but it doesn't look too bad just a bit red in places where it scratched the white bit and what not

Vision is slightly blurry still if looking through my right eye but was told it hasn't done much damage.

Will teach me to grind back welds whilst its windy i suppose:doh:

And i guess it gave me a good excuse to continue with the engine strip anorl as i could barely see earlier :p

I have dewalt goggles, cost me £8 not from here but this model and they're great

DeWalt Concealer Premium Safety Goggles | Screwfix.com

Used them for about 2 years now and they're in need of replacing soon as they're totally covered in deep scratches from fending off shrapnel……not just mine as someone borrowed them to cut rocks with

May have to invest in a pair of them ;) just for grinding etc. And use the ones in the pic the rest of the time as i barely notice they are there.
