Wonder why they are different part numbers then. Going on that theory the front and back axles should be interchangeable different part numbers but both axles so all is good. :);)

Maybe for simple mechanics lol both have to go to and register the same temp so why would they be different :):) same thread same pins same gauge just differen colour for stupid people !

I had stuff on bikes before two totally different part numbers two totally different priced one was like £120 for say a Honda black bird expensive bike
And £70 for say a cbr 600
Both had the same disks so don't give me that crap!

The reason the 2 are different is that one feeds a gauge via an a to d convertor in the BECM and the other feeds a different a to d convertor in the EDC.

I know what they do FFs they are the same its only the feeds that goes to different places!!!

Erm I have had to put a brown one in as that all I had ,they come in Brown blue black and green so yes I know it works

Given LR's reputation for economy, it's unlikely they would make them in pretty colours with different part numbers for no reason, it costs money to hold stock.
Yours may work, but does it work properly over the full range of potential temperatures?
You go your way I'll go mine, I prefer to believe there is a reason for them being listed under different part numbers and do the job properly.

The CBR and Blackbird are 2 different vehicles so it would be quite normal for the same part to be used with different part numbers, the same applied to the atmospheric pressure sensor used on Honda's F1 injection. Valeo parts used in the HEVAC are also used on Peugeots, geuss which is cheaper.

Just becuse some part numbers are different doesn't mean that are not the same as you were putting it I bet some defender models all Landrover say 90 100 have same disks but different part numbers .

Try putting a brown or black one in the ECU temp position and see what happens. They are not colour coded for the benefit of thick mechanics as you say. They know they are different, they are colour coded for the benefit of thick amateurs who think they can fit them where they want to.

Same manufacture same readings within range
And can be used in either position they all do the same thing read the water temputre they are all the same construction and fitment .

Even the one with only one pin in it that earths through the body of the sensor? The sensor that is fitted to the rear of the head for aircon fans STC2254 is not there. Any way you fit what you want to fit and i'll fit the correct one. ;);)

Yes even the early type. 2.5 diesel one pin as you said the only difference is the earth is located from the engine rather from the feed wires , obviously you would have to earth the wire .
They all do the same job. :)
Read the water temp just pretty colours :):)

I will do £2.97 and £ £12 odd quid big difference from rimmer Bria for the same thing :)

ok, update, just been out to double check what I have fitted where

above FIP is a blue sensor

middle is brown

furthest from FIP is black (post 99 with A/C)

Brown One pin you need to earth it or change it for blue or green

Could I see a photo of the wires Johnny I've never seen any black air con ones on 99 models I guess it depends when they were made register'd :)

There lies you problem

Although saying that it should de on a default setting so shouldn't matter if the ecu temp feed / sensor wasn't working
