Yep I bought an angle grinder and it burnt out after about 8months. couldn't find receipt. So went and bought a new one. Then took broken one back with New receipt and got a full refund.

Also did a job in Leeds and realised I'd left me jigsaw at Home in Wales so bought a new one and took it back at end of week. told em missus had bought me it but I already had one. and got a full refund on that as well.. :D

definately about 1 thou (off top of my head 7ths to 1.5 thou) top of piston is not as wide as bottom and you measure bottom of skirt at 90 degrees to gudgeon pin as piston is sligthly oval ,it becomes round as it expands getting to running temp,new pistons can vary by several thou, when engine is rebored it is done to piston supplied size ,dremel wont cut conrod but you can angle grind it with crank out which it needs to be if cutting or grinding inside engine case

best way i have always found is to blow the fuse in the plug. putting a 3a in a 13a appliance usually does it. then if they are funny when u take it back it really wont work.

are you really sure it is only 1 thou as that is an incredibly small amount.i could believe 10 thou but only 1 thou is hard to believe.not calling you james,just find it hard to believe.;)
 
yes built loads of them mostly because of rad faults pistons are designed that shape comes right during running temp ,but 10 thou is alot for a 2.25 petrol,in the olden days the rule of thumb was a thou per inch ,but modern design ands materials ,in fact 300 tdi is one of the easiest and well designed to rebuild £100 rebore leaving at least 1 thou honing to size £40 a piston £15 x 2 brearings £40 =new short motor,machine honing is vital not glaze busting with driull and set of stones

Right, i have got a cunning plan, as cuning a a fox who has just graduated from oxford university as professor of cunning.

drill two holes either side of the pin, then using a reciprotating saw, cut straight through it and do the same on the other side.

i made a picture on paint (qite proud of my art skill) to expain it, but i cant work out how to upload it
 
you have my attention now with that one.

The yellow represents the cutting line
the light grey, the pin (whats the proper name for it?)
 
better get plenty of blades for that saw matey coz the gudgeon pins are seriously hardened metal (bout the same hardness as snapon tools ) you need a cobalt steel blade really or tungsten carbide believe me its fookin ard metal :):):):)
 
wouldnt even try best to try and save pin to keep with piston,as has been said they are seriously hard ,grind the rod as said before try and save piston if isnt damaged the rod is a lot simpler to replace
