oh can send you a list. will do that later. when have more time. i made a compare sheet with errors.

I have the complete fault code list. so i saw 33 is not listed. I search the web for bmw and opel, but could not find it also. It looks like it is p38...... I thought just askon the forum. may be somebody saw this before and know what 33 is........ i check several times after a reset if it was real 33.

About faultmate. I have this. it is not given a specific fault. yes the "adacadabra" when the fault is not recognised.

invalid fault invalid value, fault logged ,intermittent (rpm=34, watertemp=80) occurences =5
So faultmate is not helping.

the car is not running bad. but i just want to know where it comes from.

for the fans of faultmate. it is a nice product, however for a p38 dse it is not usefull. there are many errors in it. Before i make a list with errors for the dse. many values are not correct or measured. blackbox is not intend to look for it, because old and to less diesels available. For the ones who wants to know i can make a list, but is it not for this forum item

No it won't do, that is a spurious fault possibly cause when cranking, how often does your engine run at 34 RPM? You don't have a fault you are just beating yourself up for nothing. Code 33 applies ONLY to BMW petrol engines or maybe common rail diesels.

I am working on it. as far as now. It is an EGR error code. faultmate is not recognise it and give then that strange description and unknow.

I will do some testing coming weeks. I will find it.......( i hope). But strange nobody had it before.
But may be to less latest diesels with egr.

keep you informed.

Oh 33 has nothing to do with petrol. It is coming direct out of the bosch diesel ecu, with internal fault messages.

no. the error codes are giving by flashing of the check engine light. Not on the dsplay. so no pixel error. It flash 3 times and then again 3 times. That means code 33. easy. (more cars have this system. It is just an onboard diagnostics. You do not need any diag equipment. Off course you can, but then the software is translating the code to a printed screen)

There is no feedback to give an EGR fault code.

oh yes I am sure there is. because some management systems will read them! (not blackbox faultmate). I saw before myself when borrow from a company.

You cannot read what is not there. All you could read is an ECU problem, an IAT or MAF problem which are not shown on Faultmate or most other systems, not even sure that there is a code in the ECU for them, would be interesting to find out though.

well I know that it reads the current flow from the maf. When the egr valve opens, the current flow will drop. Same when the valve will be closed by the ecu, the current flow by the maf will be increased. Autodiagnos for example is using that in the diag software for testing the egr valve and solenoid
easy for the cpu to check this. when no change in flow, it can gives a warning or put the engine in emergency (for envirement....)

i make a comparise between the errors in the diesel module from faultmate. You can see the that most of the values are differrent. I will send you a privat mail

All that is true, however from what I can see, the ECU is only an updated version of the earlier non EGR ECU so I've never been sure exactly what the ECU can log as a fault. For example no fault is logged if the EGR is disabled even though EGR has been called for and MAF airflow has not changed.

:whoosh: someone is not understanding my sense of humour :)

You may get a fault code with Faultmate if the modulation valve is disconnected, you certainly do if the MAF is disconnected. Best thing you can do is pull the bloody vac pipe off the EGR valve and forget about it. Before you disappear up your own rear end chasing something that does not exist.

Not on a M51 fitted to a Range rover it can't.

You get a fault code with the MAF disconnected? I didn't.
