There are three different air-bag ECU's in P38's. The picture you posted shows MPS Type-1.
Maybe your Hawkeye doesn't support it ?

So, I braved the rain and tried to remove a sensor. No luck, they are held by star head bolts which are so rusty that they just rounded off. I will have to go out with a grinder when the rain stops which might not be until Wednesday.

Ok no problem thanks for letting me know
The rain finally stopped today so I had a go a removing a sensor. I managed to grind the head off one bolt then the small grinding wheel that goes in my giant Dremel type machine disintegrated, it was my last one so at that point I had to give up. What I did do was take some resistance readings. Standing in front of the car, the sensor on your right has 3 wires, the one nearest the engine is Red/Blue, middle wire Green/Blue the last one is Blue/Black
From R/B to GB = open circuit; from R/B to B/B = 0.7ohms from G/B to B/B open circuit. The colours are different on the other sensor but the readings are the same. I suspect that the centre wire is the one that is activated in a crash.
Hope that helps.
