rrc.jpgbought this on ebay it is a softdash auto 300tdi.it has an overfinch badge on rear and i was told it had a beefed up engine intercooler and springs.can anyone shed any light on this alleged overfinch connection

I don't *think* Overfinch ever got involved with diesels, or certainly not back then - they were all about shoe-horning chevy V8's under the bonnet and adding questionable trim!

At a guess, I would say the Overfinch treatment extends to the badges...and thats about it. It might have an uprated intercooler, but I doubt it is from them - probably Alisport or similar!

I think it used to be possible to buy suspension upgrades without the engine upgrades, and that would have justified the badges, but I`m not aware that Overfinch ever breathed on diesels. It was never just a question of a set of springs either.
Overfinch themselves should be able to tell you if they ever worked on your vehicle, though the current owners of Overfinch bought the business out of administration I think so there might be gaps in the records.
A half decent LR independent should also be able to help - particularlyif he recognises the bits as something other than Overfinch

You should be able cross check the DVLA list of previous owner details to Companies House Director records to see if the Director story holds water - it isn`t expensive.

I cant see the director of a car tuning company as big as overfinch buying a diesel especialy a second hand one, back in the days of cheep fuel and quiet roads
even if he did overfinch never made engine mods for diesels and im pretty sure the aftermarket convertions weren't badged up as overfinch they were left with the standard badges
Feel free to correct me if im wrong

Can't offer any help on the diesel thing. But I own an overfinch modified 89 harddash. It was fitted with their handling pack.. Anti rolls bars, twin steering dampers, and quad rear shocks. Also has the fuse cover and aux button plates replaced with walnut.
Does not have an Overfinch badge anywhere. Nor does the V5C state anything about overfinch.
