Well, thanks for making me welcome everyone, it's a lovely site. I have things to do now, but will be posting for advice no doubt soon as the old Defender does need some work on it and I will need advice. Night All, and thanks again. :)

Hi and thanks for all the welcomes. I've been a little busy since my last post and am now trying to work out how to post a question in the right section and upload some photos. I'll get back here when I've done that, hopefully soon if all goes well, but I am a Newbie to the site so it may take me a while :eek:

hi,take your time and it will all become clear.this is a fantastic forum but you have to take the banter,as well as give as good as you get.:D
 
For beginners too top left of page , click forum that leads to all pages on this site click on what you fancy , say defenders and low and behold your there , then top of page click forum and your back to the main page :) :)
 
Thanks, she normally runs well, but I noticed a slight burning smell when driving a few days ago, the temp dial was showing normal and I'd checked the oil not long ago, so I popped the hood and a small amount of what could have been oil, or at the time it was mainly round two glow plug points so could have been diesel. I took her out again and checked when I got back but now it's also above the glow plug points and looks like oil. I'm not an expert so all I could think of was gasket. Can I search the site using keywords to see if there is a previous post relating to this, or if not where is the best place to post it with some pictures?

I inherited it, the previous owner was a fanatic and could have (and probably has) rebuilt her over the years. Although I helped, it was his knowledge, I just did as I was told. He was always doing something to her so she ran like clockwork, Now, however, it's up to me so I'll have to take her to the garage for work, but I do like to know what I'm talking about before I go there so will be needing lots of advice.:eek:
