Had a rummage around in the workshop and dug out my old heat exchanger for the fuel filter

only bodged in at the moment, ill get all the hoses etc much shorter and tidied up later. Within 2 -3 minutes the fuel filter is tostie hot and the heater remains just as rubbish as before = good result!

ordered some 15 x 10 challenger rims to replace the standard steelies with 30mm spacers that are on at the minute.

Also ordered a replacement lift pump. I am going to try out this electric one with the extra fuel tank being fitted for the svo twin tank system.

well tonight i went to check the lift pump as i was thinking (hoping) that was the source of my lack of grunt.

Unfortunately it works just fine *doh!*

So i changed the fuel filter - no difference whatsoever.

Its got boost but the black smoke it used to generate has gone and its now gutless. I am thinking the timing might have slipped. Arse

Whilst i was under the bonnet i replaced the rubber hose from the heated fuel filter to the injection pump with clear reinforced hose so i could see what the fuel is doing. Just in case there was any bubbles - none.

they are dead cheap mate - its a vw oil cooler basically. An eckes thing.

You can buy one secondhand pretty cheap but then you need the adaptor for the fuel filter (about £10)

or they sell the heated bit brand new ready to go - Eckes heated diesel filter 4 vegetable oil SVO UCO WVO biofuel biodiesel vegoil | eBay

ive fitted all mine i am afraid - l200 has one and so does the landy now obviously. They work well.

eckes! i was hunting for ecklles! might be why i couldn't find anything :D

Love these project threads! Wish I had more time and enthusiasm for mine, think I've fallen out with my 110, it'll be up for sale soon, don't know if I'm gutted or relieved...

I have done that hill going up with 3.5 tonnes on the back. In the winter. It's not fun.

Box is needed for all the baby crap we end up taking if we go away

did you say you are still smoking and down on power a bit?

i've been looking more into the twin tank setup i'm going for and noticed a lot of peeps are sticking the liftpump after the fuel filters.

the fuel filters are meant to be pos pressure, so sticking em behind would make bleeding a lil bit of a pig and you'll be more likely to get air leaks.

might be worth a look if you are still having issues
