well we made it back,

whilst there have made up my mind on a few bits. The MOT runs out in 2 weeks so i might as well use the opportunity of it being off the road for a few months whilst i sort out all its little issues to change some more major stuff...

First of all, its getting changed to a 300tdi, the 200tdi has been a great engine but I prefer the routing of stuff on the 300, also mine is getting on a bit mileage wise.

Then its getting an autobox...

and the disco transfer box is going to be replaced by a defender one...

finally the rear salisbury is going to be converted to discs because im crap with drum brakes and much happier with discs... and thats about the only reason

is it a proper defender 200tdi?

nah its a disco in it at the minute, the engine sits reet far back (so its a bugger to work on!)

fitting the auto box will bring it 4" nearer the front, when i move the engine mounts. :)

i am of course wrong (nothing wrong there) apparently the auto box and manual on the 300 are both the same size. *according to many previous threads on here*

maybe its the 200 one which is longer? I had read one of them was 4" longer than the manual anyway! Could be google pish of course.

Anyway i intend to keep the transfer box exactly where it is as i have a flippin expensive double cardon extreme front prop and im not buying another of those! The engine and box can sit wherever. Ill just mod the engine mounts to suit.

i'd stick with the 200. fix it up

if you stick a 300 in, you'll either have to put it in the same position and get custom pipes and gubbins.

or move it into the standard position, use a r380 and will need to change seatbox tunnel, floor seatbox (or mod it) and a bunch of other stuff.

Im doing quite a bit to it anyway whilst its down, the current exhaust thats on it is an abomination and the floor of the seatbox is a similar bodge of chequerplate. Airbox pipework is crap as well I want to sort it all out so its tidy.

Is it the transfer lever thats in a different place on the R380? Ill be making a custom tunnel for it to sit the auto transmission gear lever anyhoos

oh the 200 is notably down on compression as well. Its fine running and everything but i can turn it over pretty easy with a short ratchet. Im sure whipping the head off and sorting the valves etc would do it the world of good but to be honest... its easier to just slot another in there.

bits for the 300 seem a bit cheaper n orl.

only 200 auto box i could find was down in sodding newark...

and ive just bought a 300 with autobox :p

there... argument won

oh my current lt77 gearbox is notchy as hell as well, mrs is unable to drive it.

Little lightbar installed on the a bar.

hi mate just wondered if you'll be selling the spots it came with?? and what they were?? cheers

They work well and to be honest, most of the units sold here in the uk as "made in the uk" are actually from ching chong. All they have to do is stick a sticker on em which is sufficient to claim that they are made here. Its quite daft.

They are good quality those ones!

Im off for a few days but the 110 build will continue once i get back home. Im waiting on the remaineder of me challenge rims to be delivered and i have panels to knock dints out of...

knocking dents out of panels .... didnt realise it was a range rover you were building ....

my mate passed comment on thos doors you sold me - "see you just painted over the rust and holes in the lower rail" - " yes yes i did ..... they are solid arnt they "
