started! but waiting for the better weather. :)

Was supposed to be out replacing the rear suspension and springs on mine today but as I now have an inch of snow outside that can bugger off!

steering slack fixed at lunchtime

nipped up the adjuster on the box and it sorted it :) my colleagues were bewildered what i was doing in the carpark at lunch with a toolkit (they all drive spanking new bimmers and have never handled a socket / allen key!)

also moved the diaphragm round a bit more to suit the extra boost

YUUURRR

Was much better on the hilly bit to the office this morning, didnt have to change down from 5th to 3rd like I normally do so very pleased! Considering I am running a disco transfer box and 33" tyres as well.

well today i got around to replacing the suspension at last

Fitted the big bore rear shocks and light load +2" springs. OMG the old springs were a absolutely solid and have no give at all when i stand on them.

Had a bit of faff getting the old dampers off but got there with the aid of a pair of 30" stilsons!!

Found some rust issues on the rear axle, namely the spring seats so add that to the list of rusty things to sort prior the mot at the end of next month.

Also found that the P.O had fitted some horrible 1" spacer blocks made of solid steel that weighed a good 1kg each to it which I have removed.

Sits much better now and is a good 2" lower. Its more stable as its changed the geometry a bit a absorbs the bumps much better. Also has alot more grip in the S bend on my drive. Normally the back kicks out but having the softer suspension is found more grip and just powered on up. Very pleased with it :)

At the end of last week I had a sudden power loss (AGAIN).

I checked the wastegate actuator and its quite stiff. I cant move it using the actuator with the power of my lungs. Put a spanner on it and gave it a little wiggly wig and it is a bit stiff.

Can the wastegate be stripped down pretty easily? Ive never done one before. Thinking I might just buy another turbo and a rebuild kit and fit that as this ones done a fair few miles now.

your lungs! superman would be out of puff :)

think your lungs only kick out 2psi and the actuator goes to 16psi before opening. compressor gun works well to test it

that'd be why then

i can move the one on our l200 pretty easy with said organs!

Ill get the compressor on it and see whats what. Gonna do the tappets this week as i think they are well out as well which wont be helping power!

Got my cb radio to install too and the X brake. I have managed to misplace my propshaft socket tool so i couldnt get it off yesterday. Had to order another. No doubt I will find the old one when I am not looking for it

my eberspacher diesel night heater just got delivered to work.

Will be building a small box for it to sit in the back of the 110 :)

Won it off ebay for £45 complete with timer etc! Bargain ;)

just picked up a spanking new header tank for the eberspacher so i dont have to tie into the fuel system. I will prefer to have it not fed from the main system as then it can be ran purely on diesel whilst the main tank has diesel / veggie mix. Should avoid any issues with the heater :)

waiting for the email to come in saying it was stolen off the guys car last night miraculously. ......

that always happens to me when i get summat for a good price...

CNUTS

yeah i hate that, and "oh Im not letting it go for that, I expected it to go for way more"

ok ill get some

fundamentally though, its a pair of exmoor trim seat raisers (the seperating type) and then remove the tabs from the smart car seat runners.

Will get pics at the weekend. Its dead easy though!!

You dont have to use the exmoor trim seat raisers I should point out. I fittem the seats with just some 20mm aluminium box section on my first 2 defenders. But the splitting seat raisers allow you easy access to the battery if you need it.
