Looking to replace P38 with L322

But it will still look as old as my nan !

Least the l322 is up to date and you can easily update it using parts from any of the later models up to 2011 :)
Lol
Like most of the UK population you are obsessed with image, I don't give a feck that the P38 looks old (not that i think it does) as long as it goes and repairs are affordable, it does everything the an overweight L322 will do.
The early L322 is proving to be even less reliable than the P38 and costs about 5 times more to fix, even the bonnet release cable snaps just like the P38:rolleyes:

Thats it....rub it in :D:D:D

I took the plunge around a year back and was very impressed with the improvement in ride and comfort over the P38 which wasn't bad by any standard.

Check out the www.fullfatrr.com forum, lots of buying advice and helpful tips there (not unlike on this forum but dedicated to the L322).

True there are gearbox and other issues but if you are buying an older and higher mile vehicle it is more than likely that the problems will have already happened and been fixed. Go for one with as much service history as possible.

Good Luck!

Efficient, effective and economic. What's not to like. You being a design engineer anorl.

Whilst that ticks all the right boxes, there is one box left to be ticked.... Aesthetics :D:D:D

Would look wicked on the castellations of the Classic, or a modded P38....but an unmoddified L322 could well look a little ungainly....

A Design Engineer's tasks involve finding the optimum balance between Economics, Efficency and Form....

In consideration that my brief was to:

Repair for under £20
Do the job of releasing the bonnet
Not look like an afterthought
Zero/Minimal modification required

£17.04 for a OEM Cable from Local Dealer or £6 from Aftermarket supplier for a replacement cable ticks the 4 task criteria and also can be fitted without modification....

To quote the Bombardier - 'Bang On!' :D:D:D:D:D

Oh. In that case you certainly wouldn't have liked my first idea of a couple of washing-line cleats and some sash-cord.

EDIT. Your fear of modification appears twice so I think it is deep-rooted. Is this due to the Nimrod?

@tired old girl.

Am selling my 2002 HSE only due to buying another newer one! It has been fault free since i got it over 3 years ago. It has most vogue upgrades with heated rear seats, steering wheel, sunroof etc as well as factory windows (not dark tints).

PM me with your budget if you want. I am in Bristol. Picutres are in my gallery on here.
