I guessed because he said fenders a few posts back, but mainly because nobody in the uk restores and old disco, they all get chopped up or off road modified. And yes the number plate finally gave it away.

Really nice to see one getting a proper respray :)

I know exactly what your saying buddy, My intention was initially to make an off road monster truck but seeing how few "tidy" old stock Discos were about and how many tatty or completely off road prepared/bobtailed discos were around and how competent a machine it was I thought I would stand out from the crowd more by trying to make a really tidy but quite factory disco, people always mention what a tidy truck I have but im more than happy to give it a coat of the brown stuff whenever I can.

Would love a monster disco like GHs as well though to tell you the truth.

Must admit im starting to love the 3 door these days.

I also would vote for the ATs

Mrnice, yes as you say the early three door will be a classic soon enough.

Would have to get the early full side decals reproduced.

Would be a nice vehicle. Not quite cool enough to reach full cult classic status, but in the land rover scene a full resto 3 door will be undeniable once they reach 25 years...

Ugh! Any good places I can find some parts for my Landy?
I did find these parts but also want to compare prices etc.

1997 Disco. 3 Door.

1. Finisher-Windscreen Seal Bottom-Unheated Screen Part No.: AWR1512

3. Seal - Rear Loadspace Window 3 Door - RH Part No: AWR5388
4. All the Rubbing Strips - Plain Black - 8 pieces Part No: BTR8680PMD etc.

Any help would be immensely appreciated :D

Theres a bloke in my town who has an early silver 3 door complete with decals, his son is a landrover mechanic (bloody good one too) its all original as far as im aware and he only ever pootles around town in it at about 10 miles an hour. It looks in perfect nick. Hes had it for as long as I can remember, maybe from new. It is nice.

Nice mate, nice. A classic in the making without doubt.

Discovery changed the UK 4x4 scene, it wont be long before people realise that the early model minter they have is worth more than they thought!

Lovely!

PAINT THAT SUMP!!! :)

Haha :D True that but I am waiting to get started on the engine and service before I do anything to the engine parts.

Just a quick one is that Standard LR Silver? or have you had it mixed to your taste?

Cheers

Standard LR Silver mate. I don't want anything that's not Original.
The paint Number was matched to factory spec but you know that some manufacturers may differ. :(

Don't forget that we are used to seeing old clunkers driving around and forget how they used to look new. :p

Cheers fellas and will get more pics in soon. Finally got the front end on; bumper, grill, lights, the works. Will UL soonish ;)

Looking forward to it Jim, nice work.

Engine bay resto would be too nice!

Silver engine bay, gloss black block and polished/brushed aluminium parts?!?!

OMG :jaw:

Have a budget and sticking to it for the Recondition of the Landy. After that I will slowly, slowly do the *Looks peeeerdey* parts. :D

ok mate i'll let you off. hey it doesnt cost much to paint the engine and brush up the head and injection pump etc, and they do look mighty fine once done :)

Guys. I need two (mostly) need the rear lamp assembly Main LH. I found new ones but seem a little steap on price. Can anyone get their hands on the LH or both?
Disco. 1 1997.
Would be a great help!

Cheers:)

What great work!!!

The underside of the vehicle is breathtaking. it must have taken you ages to do this. This is a credit to your attention to detail and it will be a great classic when finished.

Needs to be in a concours show

I don't think it's quite concours underneath, looks like everything has been painted already assembled. You can see areas where the undercoating is a bit thin.

Concours would require Matt chassis with all components gloss, and no paint on bushes or hoses, plus new fasteners.

It's tidy underneath and looks great, but it's not show or concours really.

Good luck with the rest of the work :)
