Why not phone your nearest police station and ask them if its legal?
Why not phone your nearest police station and ask them if its legal?
Because sadly the police have a very poor understanding of the law???
Im pretty. Sure if he phoned the police road crime unit and asked if it was legal to sell a vin number and log book so someone can use it on a project to gain tax free status he will find them at his door
I don't know much about these things but this don't look kosher,
TAX EXEMPT RANGE ROVER 1972 CHASSIS & V5 | eBay
has everyone missed the bit where the id which it may or may not be legal to sell will also come with valid tax and mot ?
surely that in itself cannot be right ?
Maybe someone with a dubiously acquired vehicle who wants the ID.The chopped up chassis sold for £750, that's just bonkers, you could tax a motor for nearly 4 years for that sort of money, and you wouldn't be breaking the law. Who in their right mind would pay that?
Last one I reported I got an email off ebay saying they weren't aware of what UK laws were as they're based in Luxemburg. and If I thought something was illegal I should contact police or government dept with the ebay link and suggest they contact ebay.
Hello Joseph,
Thank you for taking the time to report a seller who you suspect is offering stolen goods on eBay.
Joseph, I appreciate your efforts to report such items to eBay. We are eager to help you with this but we can not directly verify such details. We have a separate department working for such issues.
Once you will contact the local police with all the details and after that they have to contact us and our specialist team will be able to assist them further. Unfortunately, we can not directly resolve this.
Please suggest the police to contact us via our Safety Centre:
eBay UK - eBay Safety Centre: Law Enforcement
The reason why I'm suggesting you to contact the Police is because the nature of the report is such that it is important to go through an appropriate channel.
If they will need any details further they will let you know.
As we are not the subject matter experts for such items we rely on the reports from such bodies and other such government recognized organizations.
Joseph, Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and for helping us to keep eBay a safe place to buy and sale.
Kind Regards,
Jon Malvern,
eBay Trust & Safety
