Guess that is why there are Brass bands but not copper ones.
Although the Frogs don't have a special word for Brass so they still call it "cuivre" which of course means copper.
Almost as mad as wanting to buy an FLSomeone wanted to buy my D1 this morning I only drove it to work.
Fink I'll keep it tho.
Wot is wot me dad taught me when us wuz tu skule. He realised as us cudden get us ed round the School Maffymaddics Projeck so juss taught us the ole way. Got the O level.
Actually I had forgotten that one as the Frogs do have a bad habit of using Cuivre when they mean Brass not Copper.Wot about laiton...

Me dad taught Mathematics for Engineers at night school to make sure me an me bro didn’t go to school wi oles in us trowsis. He was a design engineer for the Ministry of Defence for most of his life having served his time as an instrument maker. Oh, bugger yes. We were lucky to have him alright. And so was his country.Good on you.
You wuz lucky to have a dad who was good at maffs. My dad, despite being an accountant wasn't very good at maffs, in fact every time he took his accountancy exams he had to retake maths and very nearly didn't make it!
We did SMP maths at my skool too, and the A level teachers were such rubbish that me and a mate decided to spend our time reading ahead in the book, doing all the excercises, using the answer books to be found in the library to teach ourselves to A level.
I scraped a pass and he failed.
I asked a maths teacher, when I was a teacher, if she thought it would be possible for a kid to teach himself maths SMP Maths A level. She thought about it then said "No, I don't think so." So she was mildly surprised when I told her the story.
So I have no idea what "trad maths" is like although one of our teachers was always going on about it.
Do you remember the lickle slide rules they gave out with it all?
The Wiki entry on SMP maths is very small and a bit poop!

But we did learn computer programming, in Fortran, which was fun although not a lot of use, although I could have got a job in pooters after leaving school when a colleague of my dad's interviewed me, just vaguely, about computers.
As you all know I didn't, can't imagine my life if I had!!
Being in on the ground level in 1972, could have been fun!

It's been on test all day and ok will re fit tomorrowWhoops! Ok, was sort of expecting that, what car still has an old skool brass rad?!
I have only successfully welded ally once and that was with one of those funny little kits that come in a triangular section clear plastic box. That worked, but welding with the powder and another bit of aluminium? forget it! And I have bnever tried shoving ally wire in my mig welder either.
Tis all sorcery!
Hope it is holding.
