My MiL has colitis, she was being treated for IBS for ages until they realised it was Colitis. She has other medical conditions too which means she has a carrier bag full of meds each month. Recently, she had a meds review and they have realised some of her meds are conflicting with each other.

if it gets bad I have to go on steroids
Steroids are great but not long term. I have had wean off them recently but they certainly help.
