New year has not got off to a good start.

Just received a Dart Charge penalty from September, challenged it just before the cut off to increasing from £70 to £105, rejected today. At least they were quick.

Neighbour three doors up in Spain emailed this morning to say her house is being demolished in two months time. All legal avenues now exhausted after 15 years.

Not checked the premium bonds yet, I look at the website version and last night it said results available 3 Jan yet you could already scroll through all the big winners for Jan further down the page. Didn't see anything likely looking.

I'm suspicious they were being fiddled in the run up to the last general election, we had three big wins in a row in the months leading up (large for us - 700-900 sovs), then since August back to 50-100 each month. Every little helps I suppose.
Why is the house coming down? No planning to purrit up? Watched a telly program years ago about problems in spain wiv houses and flats under attack.

I think I've still got the old dial-up modem in the loft somewhere...
I think they still use for fax machines also Businesses that ISDN. I remember having a 9dot matrix Epson printer 🤬💥 design by the North Korea Manchurian project.

Might explain a lot missing from the brain during the nineties period 🏝️👽

We stick with both of our deals in both countries.
The Sosh one (Poor man's Orange) is good in frogland.
Our BT package is being renewed for less I think, still about £40 a month, so free broadband but calls still cost.
Like you, if we kept on closing them down and opening new ones we'd have to constantly lose phone numbers and stuff.
Tis all a right pain.
But at least me mobile fees are MILES lower than peeps on here as I only has PAYG, and hardly ever use them.
Who are you on with for Gas (if you have it) and electric? We are with Octopus and they seem to be fairer than most.
For 6 sovs a month yer could have unlimted calls/texts and 5gig of internet data. All int uk. Yer could cancel it and purrit on hold while being frogish. And keep the same number as long as yer enabled it wivvin the time. Wiv all the travelling yer does it would be handy to have internet on the go. Done wiv Smary. Mines handy when travelling fer wuk. Also when oot choppin.

Edit: ses yer can use the data in yorup anorl. Fair usage limit applies.

Poor people, your neebs.
And with all you hear now about the swingeing taxes being applied to expats, Brits or all, we don't know, we are glad we don't have a place there. It must be very worrying for you.
How did you manage to attract the Dart Charge? Number plate cloning?
We got a charge for driving over the Pulteney Bridge in Bath a while back. we couldn't remember who was driving. Thinking about it we ought to have asked them for a better photo so we could work it out, and if they couldn't provide that then we could simply have said, "If you cann't prove who was driving, how can you fine either of us?" As in the UK, unlike Frogland, they have to charge the actual driver. The pic only included the numberplate and the car was just a silhouette.

.... Oops! That was silly. I welded up the 3 new 2WD unit shells and forgot that the washers I am using for the flanges were galvanised. I feel as sick as the proverbial dog. It will pass, it just isn't very pleasant. Note to self, get rid of the galv before welding.
🤮

Or wear a mask suitable ...

Eye fort they charge the registered keeper if that person can't confirm who was driving.

It's complicated, for a start she's Spanish and also the house has been standing for nearly 20 years. Unfortunately she received an 'infraction' before it was finished, we remember the police poking around at the time and it was subsequently completed.

That is a big problem because with an infraction you can't get a DAFO to regularise it and because it wasn't finished at the time it was inside the statute of limitations as well.

She presumably had a licence but we knew she'd been to court and had various other legal dealings. She hasn't said much about it in recent years and we had no idea things were so far from being resolved, in today's email she said she has been through the criminal court which is very strict.

She's had the demolition order for about a month and didn't want to tell people so as not to spoil Christmas, it seems this is the end of the road and there are 2 months left. She's going to rescue what is of value which may well include the fabric of the building to some extent.

We really thought the days of this kind of thing happening were over.

Thats why I never bought land & built a house when I lived in Spain only rented, that's been going on as long as I can remember
id have burnt it down years ago & claimed the insurance. Something about owing the house but not the land & if they want to build a road through your land there's nowt you can do. That's a horrible situation to be in I feel so sorry for them. :(:(
Youd know much more about the laws then me.
