I can see you are one of the people that start jobs with good intentions but never finish them before You start the next one get a Defender it will cut a lot of work out and allow you to Finnish the important ones (giving nuts to a rodent )

While I've got me motorbike engine in bits I decided to look for a replacement gear box layshaft as the old one has a bit of minor damage (which did not affect how it works). Found one for a mere 30 sovs, NOS, surprising as they only made my version for a couple of years in the 1960's. Had to take the fixed cog off the old one with a 3-legged puller as it's an interference fit. First attempt to fit it to the new shaft was a bit risky and would have needed a heavy tratter spanner, so put the shaft in the freezer overnight and heated the cog up with me hot air gun this morning. With the hammer on standby just in case, the cog dropped onto the shaft instantly. Result.

We give them to our immediate family only… the money that we would have spent on the rest goes into a chunky donation every year to the homeless charity Crisis.
