Rakki made from plumes another name for it is grappa ( Italian ) 40%
"noun slivovitz which is what it says on the bottle,

a type of plum brandy made chiefly in the former Yugoslavia and in Romania."

Which matches your description, but not Raki nor Grappa.

noun grappa

  1. a brandy distilled from the fermented residue of grapes after they have been pressed in winemaking.
    So not the same,

    The clue is in the name, Grappa is like Grape which comes from the word for a Bunch of grapes, not grapes themselves which are usually called something like "Raisins" so in French a bunch of grapes is "une grappe de raisins"

  2. Incidentally the French for Grappa is "Marc", usually.

Raki is ...
"Rakı, Türk Rakısı or Turkish Raki (/rɑːˈkiː/, Turkish pronunciation: [ɾaˈkɯ] ) is an alcoholic beverage made of twice-distilled grape pomace and flavored with aniseed.[1] It is the national drink of Turkey.[1"

Sorry if I am a bit flipped off.:(
But I am.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Yessdi was very busy, but OK.
Today we went to Bath for our last theatre visit of the year. Successful, had a nice day.
But came home to discover an email saying that our Parisian friends currently in Residence in Paris, were made to pay €31 in "surtaxes" to receive our Christmas parcel.:mad::mad:
One of the ones I mentioned earlier.
So, in essence, they have bought and paid for the present, the card and the postage.
There were NO customs charges liable.
totally furious.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
At least none of our other friends were made to pay anything, as far as we know, (still one to be heard from).
No thief like a Parisian postal worker. 👿

And in other news. I don't think I mentioned that our hot water tank has a "weep" at the point where a bathroom fitter fitted a flange-type thing on the side of the tank towards the top, to feed the new power shower. Years ago.
Of course I asked Dumbo the Plumberer if he could tighten it up. He refused to, saying it risked making it worse, he advised getting a tube of CT1 and running a bead round where it was leaking from. So I got the tank cool and did exactly that.
You've guessed it, it is now leaking from further back, i.e not from the side of the nut facing out, where it had been doing, but from where the nut meets the flange. I will now cut a bit more insulation away from around the site and smother the flipping thing in CT1.
At least it is weeping less. :rolleyes:
Could really do without this just before we go away for a week. :rolleyes:
