Morning All. :D
Another disturbed night lying awake for a few hours. :(
I think I am subconsciously worrying about this pedal car I have taken it upon myself to repair for the scout group.
Was woken by "Alan" (the Cat) calling loudly for food just before my 8AM alarm.
Paper's got, bins put out etc. and now just chilling here on LZ.
Have a great Day. :D
You are lucky shadow (are cat ) gets me up at 4 if not I get fang holes in my toes 😼😼

Wondering if I should get a 10k loan to buy a newer van, I could just pay cash & be done with it or I keep the cash in case I
find more scrap to buy. 🤣 I have 500 quid on a credit card cause the misses makes me buy stuff on it then pay it off. ??
My limit on that card is 3500. I dont pay out anything else apart from bills ect 310 quid per month over 36 months if I get fed up
paying this can I just pay it off ive not had a car finance or a loan since I was 20.

Just wondering if its a good idea or not just go & work harder for a couple of months to get the extra dosh.:):)
You could always get a part time job in the evenings to earn a few extra $$$ to pay for your van
The co-op are always looking for evening shift staff

At least (I hope now) you have some heat.
If it works that’s great.
Not gonna say it but I am ;), motorised valves should get signal/live to open/close when called? So I don’t really understand that bit.
But this time of year is not a happy time to be messing with it, if you and W are now warmer then good news.

J
Motorised valve is no longer connected electrically cos it warn't doin nuffin. The plug is no longer attached. The leaver that locks into position to keep both circuits open. So although water is passing through it the white lead and orange lead that should be connected to it are simply connected together. This means we can now switch the heating on via the programmer and the room stat in the hall governs when the boiler and the pump come on. And furthermore the programmer still governs all of the timing. I can physically turn the boiler to hi or lo, which I always had to do.
The hot water coming from the boiler flows around the coil in the tank and also round the rads, as the motorised valve is permanently open to both.
This works so well that we are tempted to leave it like this. The only thing is that the tank does get hotter than usual, but I could control that too by partially closing the gate valve in the circuit with the coil for the tank. I have yet to try that.
The thing is that we never use it for HW only anyway. and we never could isolate it to CH only, so we are totally no worse off in that respect.
I got rung up by the plumber last night. He is strongly now of the opinion that the motorised valve must be at fault. He tells me that other valves, like the Honeywell, are basically all the same so the wiring should be the same. Which is prolly true. But nonetheless, they now ask for a "HW off" wire which we don't have, so although there are 5 wires, of the same colours as the original, I am as yet not convinced that the internal wiring of the old valve is the same as the new one, or any other new one.
He also said that no on fits ones like it in new installations cos they don't work very well, new installs have two separate valves. He also said that how a three position valve works is like black magic to plumbers and they don't get involved!

Good news is that he is only going to charge us for the pump and its fitting. He is going to suck up the cost of the valve and its fitting as I guess a goodwill gesture plus he felt sorry for us being without heating for a fortnight.

We may look at all this again when the winter is over, when he will be less busy.
The sparks was there 2 1/2 hours so will be charging us £100 plus vat, so not too bad. Well, for where we live! He was a decent bloke and decent enough to listen without patronising and work with me rather than for me, if you know what I mean.

Tis ok peeps festive party is back on at Stans now he's got heat. :vb-party2::vb-party2::vb-partyguy::vb-party:🥳🎉:vb-party2::vb-party2:
Funnily, as we were driving to Bath today for yet more fun, we were planning our New Years do that we are going to throw for the new, recent and not quite so recent neebs. Hogmanay as you would call it, is so badly celebrated here that we think having them round for bevvies and a bit of food later on in the evening and to see the New Year in with some Moet and Chandon would be really nice. At least none of them would need a taxi home! The dottir and SIL could kip down here so again, no need for restraint!!

All good fun!:):):)
Wot is you goin to do for noo yeer!? ;););)

Wot sort of van is you a thinkin of? another Tranny?
You take out a loan, straight away you are paying some other bugre for the pleasure, borrow £10k pay them whatever each year of the loan. How much do you want to give them just for the pleasure of lending you a bit of dosh? That deal is pretty good, many loans are at about twice that for their APR at the moment.
Whether you can pay it off early will be in the small print.
I too have only ever had one car loan in my life. £150 for an old style mini when I was about 17! I was earning £20 a week at the time!
If you can save it up or a part of it, without it hurting too much it might be better and certainly cheaper. 🤞🤞🤞

Oh goodness me!
Apparently I have won a Souped-up mini in an online raffle.
I have to pay delivery charges from Doncaster.

So the seller got quite a lot for that old Mini I sold him a while back! 🤣 🤣 🤣
He did well!!
But you did much better!
Hope you are both very happy!
Are you sure you haven't recently changed your name from Kev Starr???

(I once won a car in a competition, twas a kit to build a car, got it to MOT standard regged it took it off t'road to do "properly" and it is still in the garage 29 years later!) So Danno you are much better off as yours will be good to go. Confess to a tiny bit of jealousy.
WELL DONE!!!!
Nice early Christmas pressie!:banana::banana::banana::banana::mexicanwave:🎁🎁🎁🎁
