I tend to never turn it off - just use the main stat to control the CH on-off as needed. It’s normally set at 20, which gives a nice comfortable and steady temp in the house for everyone.

There is a method in this approach… wimmins never seem to be able to understand how a thermostat works, and so leave it alone. If only I could electrify the dials in the cars… 🤣

Wifey has been asking why ours is only on for 3 periods per day.
Says she's "cold"; but I am sat here in a short sleeved T-shirt. Hmmmm.
Mine is on from 7.30am until 10pm every day. The main thermostat is set to 19 deg. and each room has thermostatic valves on all rads. When the sun is out I get the heat from that all day which is considerably more than 19deg so the heating does not come on until the house temp drops to that level.
 
Now here's a thing.
The Pluriel actually seemed different when I test drove it.
I said to myself, "this must just be psychological", but it isn't the first timing belt change I have done by a long chalk. And never before has one seemed quieter and a tiny bit sharper. TBH they just drove exactly the same.
However, when I took the old tensioner off, the indicator pointer was pointing way off towards "relaxed", didn't think much of that at the time.
So I took the old one into the garage and "fitted" it using the vice, a bolt and nut to simulate the spindle and nut that holds it in place, plus the handle of a spanner to lock the adjuster base plate in place. But could I adjust it as I ought to have been able to? Could I flip. You put an allen key in a shaped hole on a plate on top of it, relax the nut a bit and use the hex hole to turn the plate, but there seemed to be no connection at all between this and the sprung adjuster, although the spring was deffo not bust in fact it was really strong and it took a lot of ingenuity and effort to make the two halves of the adjuster move to the "locked" position that the new one came in, with a metal pin holding it like that.
So I came to the conclusion that some connection between the top plate and the bottom one had simply just "gone".
Which would mean that for Lord knows how long it has been running with the tensioner on its softest position. Yet it ran fine and the timing belt that came off looked as if it had only been fitted a week ago. I'm beginning to wonder if the faulty part was fitted right at the beginning because when we bought it it had only done 10k miles and had only one service stamp in the book, the very first sort of "run in" service, not a proper one.
Still not sure about all this.

Mine is set to 17.5 degrees C constant 24/7. Eye keeps the doors downstairs closed at night and when we're oot, so the heat stays in the rooms. 5 thermostats and motors on 6 of 8 rads. Only the rad in the rooms that need heat, gets heated.

Is it better to leave your heating on all the time or have it programmed to go on and off?


Think it depends massively on how well your place is insulated. but even then, all houses lose heat, can't escape that.

Wonder if it would be even better to have a system that turns the heat down, but not off, during the night, (and other times when you are out)?
 

If you slide the semicircle around so it lies on the bottom of the quadrant then its diameter is the same as the quadrant's radius.
So it is half of the area of the quadrant. The dimension given is pointless.
If the diameter of the semicircle is 2 then its radius is 1
area of a circle is pi r squared so 3.14 etc.
If the radius of the big quadrant is 2 then the area of its circle is pi x 2 squared = 12.56.
so the area of the small semi circle is 1/2 3.14etc = 1.57
and the area of the big quadrant is a quarter of 12.56 = 3.14 so twice the area of the semicircle.
