Lovely day here today.
Even got a bit of a sweat on cutting up the tree that the nasty neighbours pushed over, as the noo nice ones came over to tell us that their mini skip would be going early next week and would we like to put the old tree on it? I had to get the chainsaw out to cut bits of it up as the trunk would have taken too long to cut through with a saw. I espied in their skip a jacksaw that looked pretty respectable, better than either of mine, so I asked if I could have it, of course I could! Eatcherartout @kevstar !!!!🤣🤣🤣

Having discovered that one of the two watches that I really wanted when I bought that lot at auction last Satdi, a Paul Jobin, is worth quite a lot of dosh due to its condition being MINT G-8, i.e. never flipping worn, no scratches or any other wear marks on either the watch or the strap, I turned my attention to the sad pocket watch that was in with some other stuff.

This one has no back, no maker's name on either the movement or the face, but has "boite Artistidioud de Geneve" on it plus "Medailles d'Or Geneve 1896" and "Paris 1900" embossed around the opening of the back, which would be hidden once the missing back was snapped on. So I have to assume the maker's name would have been on the back either inside or outside. Never seen a watch like it. It again is in fantastic condition. The crown does the winding and if I depress a tiny little button next to it with a finger nail the crown then alters the hands. Sadly there is a failing probably in the barrel as the watch doesn't run although if I apply pressure to the centre wheel it drives the balance, so I know that is OK. I suspect that the spring has come adrift from the barrel and will need reattaching. The rest all seems good. And the case is silver too, so just that makes it worth something.

So the internet has never heard of this Artistioud thing which doesn't look like any word I know in French. I think I'll have to go to one or two of the watch forums and ask. All good fun!
Enjoy the weekend folks!
