Morning All. :D
Been and got the paper for her. :)
Knee's been aching all night and is sore to flex or walk on. :(
It's the end I reckon. End of cycling anyway. :(
Have a good day. :D
Hey Dan, that is really sad.:(:(:(
I know exactly how you feel as I can no longer play the guitar due to arthritis in my findgers.
Getting old REALLY stinks, (in a non-wet pants way!)

Yay!!! It is finally raining. Not chucking it down but increasing in intensity just slightly.
We really need our tank filling, or even half filling.
We is out to lunch to celebrate having met each other on the 15th of August 1990. (It's the 15th tomoz but things will be happening here, plus it's a bank holiday equivalent so not a good day to go out to lunch!
Have a lovely day folks!!:):):):)

To our French cousins across the channel. We admire your resolve to stop illegal migrants crossing. Recent photo of your border patrol halfway point doesn't help 😂.

Some peeps seem to be able to do loads of miles in them with no problems.
As I said earlier our neighbour here will be rebuilding one that will then allegedly be bullet proof, with the help/advice of this guru guy who races with those engines.
In the meantime it appears that frequent oil changes with the right oil make a good difference.

I suppose the point I was trying to make was, If you already have1 then do what you can to help but they all still seem to have that will it wont in the background.
So If you have a choice then steer clear.
Making 1 "bullet proof" wont come cheap so unless you buy 1 with an already grenaded engine then does it make financial sense?

There are many other RRs with a better engine/gearbox that are getting into very reasonable price range.
We chose the RR TDV8 but after research went a little bit more on the budget to get the 8 speed box over the 6 speed, because of the rep. So why would you buy something with a pretty bad rep at a price. that for a bit more you could get something that doesnt have (such) a bad rep. Certainly not a rep that basically makes the car a write off.

Now I also understand that the reason for forums such as this is for free help and knowledge sharing

Thunder storm's here at the moment but not Mutch rain but still hot enough to drink beer last shutter ready for painting be glad to see the back of them
I admire but at the same time wonder at how you paint your shutters so often.
Is there a byelaw or something?
Ours have patinated from a bright Gauloise bluey colour to a nice faded version. I won't be touching them for a long while yet, but I do keep and eye on the hinges etc for rust.

I am not disagreeing with your logic at all and I at the moment would steer clear of any of them with a grenade type engine. But then I have a mate who has one that had been used by some business type who racked up about 150k miles in it, no problems.
He is a using it gingerly and forever talking about flogging it.
I think we all have a mate or two who has had a problem or the opposite. This is not stats this is anecdote.
And I don't know whether statistically they are anything like a safe bet.
But his is a Disco, not a RR. And I have no idea if this makes a difference.
As I have no intention at the moment of changing the D2 or adding to our collection I have done no research at all.

The guy doing the rebuild with his nephew I think it is, well the nephew got it for an absolute song WITH the blown engine and said neighbour loves a challenge, so maybe he is doing it a bit more for fun than for any sort of profit.

I'll keep you all posted as to how he gets on!

Theres no way im putting anything that starts with petrol on my hoop. 🤣 🤣
Here's a funny thing about Vaseline.
Our landy nut neighbour was telling me the other day that he repaired his XYZ switch. (Fing on the auto box on a D2 that changes its gears or summat, for those who don't have one.) It basically has a sliding electrical contact which makes contact with other contacts (too many contacts there!!) Anyway, he lubricated it with vaseline!!
In no time at all it acted up again. He took it apart and , yep you are ahead of me, they were burnt!!! Twit! so he repaired it again and this time used a more conductive and less explosive lube! 🤣 🤣 🤣

There is a reason why the non-Trade-named one is called "petroleum jelly" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
