We booked a cottage we have used quite a lot in the past in the Dales for this Xmas, it has changed hands and W sent £100 to secure it for 2024 in 2023.
She later sent another £350, comms with the new owners hasn't been good.
We normally paid £450.
The new owner now says we still owe £250!
No rental agreement, nowt. Our fault, we have been so trusting as peeps up there are normally so decent.
W has checked and to be fair the prices have shot up.
Not happy.:(

Do you have a previous agreement from the old landlord ?

Until that is superseded is it not applicable ? (dependant on the timing of your initial deposit to the old landlord)
Wife assures me that yes we will have them in a filing cabinet back in blighty. She is good at keeping paperwork.
But she sent the deposit to the new landlord.
TBH this isn't really going to be a problem I expect, but the huge price increase came as a bit of a shock.

Depends if:

It's worth it ?

You can negotiate a lower price ?

Find somewhere else cheaper/better ?
