I've been laughed at and called names even by a camper builder company
Mostly very negative comments speculating doom and gloom
Couple of good folk saying it's a good idea but beginning to wonder if it's worth sharing in future

Think they'll find that transits have two batteries under the driver seat anyway. Whats this forum im going to join & kid on im BOB 🤣 🤣

As we have tweo autos to drive, we both know that a move from P to another gear is needed to get the car moving but the point is that if you leave a kid or even a dog in a car it might be possible for it to push the lever into say D. although nowadays most cars have a button you need to push too. But W's Pluriel, all you need to do is push the lever forward or back. Then put a foot on the accelerator.;)

Only ever been to Leicester once and that was in about 1974. Had a girlfriend whose mum lectured in I think Physics at the uni, her dad was a sort of hall tutor type person at Loughborough uni so he had free accomodation. Mebbes that would be a way of doing it? He lectured in a sciency or mathy subject too. Girlfriend was having a year out working at Bath uni, where I worked.
(Seems to be a lot of "uni" in this post!)
Spect they don't have these nice little numbers any more.:(
And Leicester didn't seem too rough back then.

You sure?

The p38 has a button on the lever to lift before you can move it always got me foot on the brake anyway have been told thats not part of the interlock. the L322 I cant turn me knob till I put my foot on the brake.

Its such an automatic thing you don't know your actually doing it.

Course I'm sure, I drive the flipping thing most days!!
It isn't a proper auto, its a flappy paddle "sensotronic" thing. So it don't creep if you push on the lever, it'll just sit there until you put a foot on the accelerator as if it had an inertia clutch, which it doesn't have, (it has yet another pooter to activate the clutch which is an akshhool proper clutch. The gear changes also have a servo as well, nothing simple on the wretched thing.)
So if it is on a slope you have to use the handbrake or a foot on the footbrake to hold it there.
The only interlock is that you cannot start it without a foot on the brake.
W's previous car, a small vauxhall, was a proper auto and yes you had to start it with a foot on the footbrake, but you could move it into D with just the lever and a button, we think! twas a while back!

They raise some valid points to fink about. If said points have been covered then all is ok. It would be a mod yer need to tell yer insurance about. But eye guess yer vehicle is already modified quite a bit. Hinges can look strong but in a crash the force would be on the metal pin through the hinge. They ain't always that strong. Hinge would tare from one end first normally if a large force like a crash were applied.

I think the weak point in the standard seat fixing would be where the runners bolt to the seat box, it's a lip around the top and can be bent with a pair of pliers. My hinges are bolted to the upright sides vertically so much stronger.

If the van were to crash with enough force to break those big hinges I think the passenger would be a gonner anyway, after working with Land Rovers I usually over engineer things so it's safe as houses :)

Wow eye din't know cars still allowed that in the uk. Eye fort they all needed the brake applied to get them oot of park. Driven a lot of hire car auto's. Always been the case.

When yer ses over engineer fings on land rovers... does yer mean yer double the fick ness to allow for rust worm reduction?

Don't laugh it happened to me and my mate in Cambridge found a parking place which was tight to close to the car in front couldn't open the door to get out until some lads come along and pushed us back

My USA Ford ranger was like that couldn't select drive without foot on break and button pressed
