Weather sucks here and I missed "grren bin day" except that when I got to the end of the drive, in slippers, T shirt and work pants, to see the truck 50 yds past me, at least the brown food compost bins hadn't beene emptied so I was able to leave that and not be so bothered. Green bin was only 1/2 full anyway!

Have been refitting the windows at the pub this morning. Next week we goes down the stairs an starts all over again..

I've been known to be barefooted in a dressing gown belting down the road with a bin chasing the binmen :)
 
I'm not in Wales today, but looking at the weather stations closest to my land, they suggest we may be a bit more sheltered than @derwendolly. The wind gusts don't seem to be exceeding 9 m/s (or about 20 mph) and whilst it's raining it's in the region of 3-4 mm/hr. So pretty standard for Wales! Maybe not as windy as usual for my place.

So you can have a play around and see how December 2023 compares to previous Decembers in your part of the British Isles (if indeed the UK is your home). Bit wetter than average, but not exceptionally so, bit milder than average but not exceptionally so.

I love dustbin day. It's like having a really good crap, and I feel fully cleaned out afterwards. We're lucky in Leicester that I live near the corner of two streets, so that our back lane and the front of the house come out onto one each. The bins are collected at around 7.00 from the back, and around 11.00 at the front. So if you're quick you can put the bins out the back and get them emptied first thing, and then fill them up again and put them out the front ready for another collection.

I find myself ferrying a lot of rubbish back home in the Land Rover from friends who live in areas with more stringent rules as to what can be put in what bin and when it will be taken. It's just like a miniature version of global recycling, where the UK's carefully sifted waste is shipped overseas and dumped in poorer countries
