But of course there will always be those who tear the backside out of it.

one of their homes on expenses – whether it is in London or in their constituency." So they rent a tiny place in London and pay the bills on their mansion in the shires. Give someone a loophole and they will drive a coach and horses through.
If I was PM, anyone whose main home is too far away to travel in and out every day would be allowed to stay in a hotel overnight, or maybe to have a one bed flat. But not a three or 4 storey house in Notting Hill.
Simplest way of doing it would be to give them a reasonable allowance and any more then that would be up to them. Then they could buy as big a place as they want.
This is only the same as it used to be when I was travelling around as a rep. Why should MPs be different?
