Well that was a job defnitly wurf doin, my buy ass spring is now doin it's job and the gear change is transformed! Should've done it years ago! I think the nylon cup atta bottom is worn, the buzzin is still there a bit so more to be done, but the difference is remarkable. Think I'll spring for a slickshift upgrade for me Burpdi.

Has turned quite wintry again. How are all the crocks doin this afternoon? :p

Glad to hear this!!!:):):)
You could just get a noo nylon cup.;)
A "quickshift" is an interesting idea, you could even make one of your own, but is it worth offsetting the extra effort it will take to make each shift against a bit of speed on the change? After all it isn't a rally car!;)

You have a point. It's not the speed of the change I'm interested in though, more the throw at the knob. Reckon I'll gerra noo cup fust

No, a slickshift. Is a kit wif a new pivot pin an a spacerer. The pivot point is moved up by about 15mm so you get the same movement at the gate for less movement at the knob. Obverously a bit more force must be required at the knob, but I reckon is worth a go for a ton an an hour of my time :)
"Slickshift" "Quickshift", you say tomayto I say tomahto!
Rod, Custom and Kitcar builders do it lots. It has even been covered on how to make your own on Wheeler Dealers.
You can get similar, although not the same, obvs, by simply shortening the gear lever. The one in my Marlin Roadster is like that. Lever reduced by about half.
It had to be otherwise it wouldn't have fitted under the dash, and as it was it also had to be heated up and bent backwards a bit. The gearbox is a lot higher up in relation to the seat, so it does still "fall to hand" I appreciate that you can't really do this in a Landy.
£100 is not a lot of dosh to save yourself the effort of cutting and shutting the original lever to move the pivot point upwards. Plus you don't have top do the maffs and find or make a spacer.
Anyway, have fun with it!!:):):)

Just learned that the charlatan Jay Blades is opening a furniture shop near us.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I think one stupid item coloured in, a button or a chairleg is supposed to be his trademark.
Hardly a wooden mouse though is it?
I think his trademark really is "it's expensive and it looks like c***."
