i've got one, love it! don't use it all the time but sometimes if i've had to hang washing up inside to dry
Thanks @kermit_rr , is it noisy in operation? Our bedroom is the problem area with condensation on the windows and on the walls of the en-suite bathroom.
My concern would be any compressor noise (a lot of them are compressor based I think).

Ours is not too bad but I wouldn't want it running all night in the same room as me!

Question for you peeps

I'd like to get my daughter-in-law a nice Crimbo pressie, she's a vet and although had a middle class upbringing has no hang-ups with mucking and growing your own, etc.

What the feck can I get her ? My budget is £150 as she didn't get a birthday pressie this year either ...
Argos do vouchairs for trips oot like going in a hot air balloon.

its a 12L one, has 2 fan speeds, and can set minimum humidity value or set to 'just fan', has a night mode too, which turns all the lights off.
for speed1, its fairly quiet, similar to the fridge freezer. if it was in the en-site with the door at least half closed, you probably wouldnt hear much at all

the really useful setting is 'drying' sets it to permanently on, good for drying a bathroom, clothes etc it still comes on and goes off, but the fan is always going and it wont go to sleep at a specified humidity level

We have one - compressor type. Certainly not suitable as a bedroom companion overnight.

Like @kermit_rr, drying laundry is its main use. As we are trying to keep the bills down I have noticed that its performance drops off with lower temperatures.

Can't speak for the desiccant types but this article might be of use. (Not apparently paywalled)

dessicant ones i guess are OK if you need silence, but how do you dry them out? i can get a litre in a fairly short period of time depending on humidity and temp

.... has anyone got direct experience of domestic dehumidifiers please?
We are experiencing some issues with condensation here at Clarke Towers and I want to assess the options.
Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom. :)
I've got a Misubishi and it has been brilliant over the years - still going strong after all this time. Was not cheap whe I bought it.

Di$@ster just sp!lt @ dr!nk over my l@ptop some of the letter$ dont work & now doiqn some strnge shqit
fk s@ke :(:(:(
Shut it down. Take the battery oot. Gently poke somefink in the fan to stop it spinning. Use a hoover to suck oot the liquid. Leave to dry oot natrally wivvoot any additional heat. Dunt ferget to remove the anti spin fing from the fan before powering up.

thanks, there was a warning on the dash 'take to dealer' and had no power at all, felt software limited', i'm sure it will get fixed properly or i can throw it back.. just need to get the unlock codes for my nanocom haha
Iffits going to a main dealer they will do a general condition report onnit. Wood be wurf ringing up or going to see them after its fixed, to ask if they fink its in good condition ferrits age and mileage. Yer may need to put ten sovs in the charity pot to gerra reply. Yer can also put yer own diagnostic onnit to check for faults after. Eye has a gap iid for ma hippo which should wuk on pretend freelanders.

There's a lot ov spoof info aboot dpf's on ere and online in general. Eye do constant short trips and rarely go above 50mph in ma hippo. Fools will tell yer this can't happen on dpf vehcles burrits rubbish. Eye stayed below 35mph to force mine to fill up. Took weeks to do. When it did it would trigger a dpf full warning on the dash. Revs and therefore speed were limited. Eggscellerating fast would trip the warning assit dint like going over 2000. Power cycle the engine to clear. To fix eye took it for a gengle drive to warm up. Then increased the speed. Dpf regen request activation triggred. Regen cycle then started when conditions were right to start. Problem solved.

Eye has a small one and ran it ferra while when first buying me castle. They need a min and max temp range to wuk. The best fing to do is have a look on youtoob. Search fer peter ward damp, to find oot the causes and methods to get rid. Fresh air flow is key to clearing condensation.

mine complains if batteries are low, get a thing on me fone
Gorra app to control it anorl. Gives yer graffs and stuff to look at un warns yer aboot batt-tree condition. Eye ignored it assit wurn't being used. Eye is going to buy it some rechargabul batt'tree's fer crispmus from argos. Eye can control un monitor it over the web. Also manually control it wivvoot the app. Saved quite a bit wivvit.
