Then to the pool which I cleaned, well the bottom and most of the side bit, watter at 25 degs so a lovely swim, two 25 kg bags of salt in and let it run for 24 hrs. :):)

Why add salt?
You don’t pump water out so salt stays? Do you test salt content?

We have gained 2 tiles due to rain and the salt level has dropped but the evaporation will bring it back to normal level.

Good to hear you are in it:) it’s great to lower the temps:).

I inflated our pool last night and filled it in half an hour. In plan it's about the same as a large baff, big enough to top an tail an not spill your G&T. Good enough to last till it rains on sunday.. :)

Once upon a time I was due to go on hols with Wifey when we was both workin and had booked a gite in S France for two weeks. A coupla days before my then son -in -law called in a favour, he was moving and needed to empty his shed.
now his sheds are always about 4 times bigger than most peeps'.
So I went over there expecting to see another mate of his called Scotty who is a braw little sod but no he weren't there.
""What are we shiftin, then?" quoth I
"Oh just that kitchen range and a couple of engines."
:eek::eek::eek::eek:
He had a low trailer to move them with but they had to be man handled out of the shed, down the garden onto the drive and onto it.:(:(:(
The kitchen range was quite stripped down but Victorian cast iron weighs a ton and is not easy to get hold of but we struggled it on, well I did, ex s-i-l could lift a house if he had to.
Then one of the engines, no sweat.
The last was a Yank cast V8 block cos he likes his yanks. He said to me "Which end do you want? The hard end or the easy end?" as one end had bolts sticking out of it to connect to a gear box that was obvs the "easy end" so I opted for that.
So he said "OK, you turn it round then." So we could both get hold of it. I lifted up one end and twisted with it.
Crack went my back. As usual it isn't just the lift it is the turning at the same time that did it.
But we still had to get it on the trailer as he was moving out of the house the following day. So somehow we got it onto the trailer.
So there was me with the knackered back and a holiday to go on that meant driving for a coupla days solid.
Wifey was furious but I couldn't have done anything else. I drove till I couldn't stand it any more, then she drove but the passenger seat didn't have height control unlike the driver's seat so I had my head and neck constantly bent and that didn't help at all, so I ended up driving yet more.
What a pain. If it hadn't been for the book "Callanetics for your back" that I took with me and whose exercises I did religiously every day, the holiday would have ended very early and I would never have heard the end of it.
My ex s-i-l still rings me occasionally saying "Are you feeling strong?". I am a lot more circumspect about what he is asking me to help him with.:(:(:(;););)

Our pool has a cover over it with lickle holes in it which let the rain in. We are 600 metres up in the Montagne Noire so it rains a feckin lot. So the rainwater goes into the pool and dilutes the water so the salt level drops AND flows out of the pool via the overflow, LOTS of rainwater.
I use the extra height of water to clean the pool with i.e. I suck the dirt up and out through the "drain" position on the multi position valve just before the sand filter. So I don't have to put fresh water in which i'd have to pay for, as well as the supposed sewage rate that they take the measurement of from the water meter. So it gets cleaned, the level drops to the point where the skimmer works properly and Wifey won't drown if she tries to stand up in it. I only need to circulate the water to filter it and all is hunky dory. :):):)
I had a feeling I had explained this before, but no matter. Salt is cheap enough if you go to the right place. Damn sight cheaper than a chemical pool!;)

Make the most of the fine weather if you can today. Most of us in the UK will be back to drizzle tomorrow on all the weather forecasts I can see. Cloud and more modest temperatures for much of the rest of the month too. Looks like we'll have to wait 'til July for another chance at a hot spell.

We've just stopped working down by the pool as it is now 12 o'clock by the sun.
35 degrees in the shade up at the house. Sensibly we were both working under parasols.
Stupidly yet again we got up not too early then enjoyed a leisurely brekker.
Still at least I persuaded Wifey that presurising ourselves to get the pool area clean and the joints redone in a rush to invite our friends over is not going to happen.
Phew!!!
Enjoy the heat if you can!!!:):):)

@Stanleysteamer we did knock the door but you may have been out…,

...that the "Log-Store" got finished completely.
Roof on, felted, trimmed off etc.
Herself demanded log "roundels" as decorations so Thomas spent ages cutting them off of logs that were in the storage location.
This was instead of other tasks I had for him to do (Happy-Wife = Happy-Life?).
I now have 3-days to get ready for the Holland trip. :)
