There was a lot of those sorts of things about then.
My ex-wife and i got married in France early July 81, on our way back to my Dad's place, in the car all decorated with "just married" stuff, we stopped in a pub for a drink.
A beer rep was there and he asked whose car it was.
"Ours" sez I.
congrats etc followed and he presented us with two bots of their celebration ale.
I think we drank it soon after, maybe on their wedding day!

As yours has been in the bottle and will have prolly been pasteurised, at least, it might be OK.

Just found out I won my lot at the auction, so I have got a lot of games type stuff plus, what I really wanted 2 Hohner fully chromatic harmonicas, in cases, fully functioning.
For £30 plus fees.
I've seen one Hohner go for €40
Result!
I want to put the rest back in but Wifey wants to keep it and is now talking about making a croquet lawn out in Frogland. :eek::rolleyes:

I managed to cut that 24TPI thread for that trike two wheel drive diff-unit. :D
A right palaver it was too! But it worked and that's the first screw-cut thread on the mini-lathe.
Feeling very pleased with myself. Yes, its nothing special, but I'm new to all this lathe palaver.

And a long time later... All threaded and the mating component wound fully on.

i have never had the opportunity to work with a lathe and I would Soooo like to.
In the past I have had stuff to do that would have been so much neater if I had one, and the knowledge as well.

That is brilliant! Especially as you have cut it on a metric lathe, all kudos to you :) Great things are destined to come from your endeavours!

It is a first for me and while I found it a right ball-ache not being able to disengage the half-nuts and winding it back & forth/in & out so as to always keep on the same part of the leadscrew it did get done.
What I cannot work out yet is why the part that winds on so sweetly on the right hand side of the thread will not wind on and jams on the LH side after about 3/4 of a turn.
It suggests that the lathe id out of true somehow (not hard on a Chinese Junk I guess). So my plan is to cut the part into the 2 independent halves it needs to be and do another pass on the failing half. :)
I will fettle it.

Perhaps you have a slight taper (this can be checked by turning some stock - with a light cut - without the use of the tailstock and measuring each end) that would account for the thread not being perfectly formed on the left hand side.

Need to get me head around that;), but I believe you:).

If the thread is tight near the Chuck end of the cut then the Chuck is pointed towards the tool? if that make sense.
