Acksherlly I have a feeling the whole Schengen region is marching to the same tune as once we've got it it will be valid all over that area.Do they think they are Yanks or what, Its a bloody holiday visa.
I have only ever had to go for 1 interview with any of my work visas that was for the states.
Just work it back from when you always come home. Yes the arrival date shouldn't matter if they put a start date. As you say changing a ferry is easy.
Good luck with it, thing is it seems all EU countries arent working by the same hymn sheet at the moment.

Yes, they are modelling it on the Merkin version, including the biometrics, which we are a bit worried about as the wife doesn't have fingerprints that scan, or are even very visible. When she went to Merca on business she held up the queue for ages until some bloke, two levels of seniority up, came down and told them to accept her iris scan.
I don't know how long your work visas were for. This is for 6 month, long-stay holiday visa.
You'd think they would do it differently for those who can prove they own property over there, but no, they don't seem to make much of that, except possibly slightly less of a requirement in the financial dept.
And as you say, "Just work it back from when you want to come home".
Problem being I'd quite like to stay till the end of October, but if we went over 6 months ahead of that apparently her gardening would be "off".. I pointed out that as we qwould be unlikely to get over there for quite a while due to Covid anyway, it would make sense to come back in October, but I had then to go and get my tin hat, and my flak jacket.
You know that feeling you get when you know you are going to start a row, no matter how gently you try to approach a subject?
Well I had that feeling in Spades! No! No Trumps!
