Happened to us the one time our Christmas holiday was spent in North Wales. a holiday cottage on a farm where the old dear barely spoke any English. Her son tried like mad to find a generator. CH off, although oil fired, had some coal on an open fire, Christmas dinner was very cold red wine and paté on toast toasted over the same fire. We curt the holiday short after that. And there wasn't even any feckin snow. Just a storm with power lines down.White Christmas anyone?
Lovely idea...right up until you are the one with a power outage and they cannot get out to fix it, I should imagine.
