Ordnance surveys were originally produced for artillery purposes. Knowing where the elevation (level) and distance of the target was and the elevation of the artillery piece, enabled accurate firing. One drawback was that in un-surveyed locations such as in foreign battlefields, the surveyors had to go into the battlefield before the battle started. Lots of them got killed ----. Nowadays even a poorly equipped army can just do it with goggle earth.

It was the height above sea level ...

Mrs walks in this morning to say her Motobike is going for an mot.
Then remembers she has loaned her leathers out so I need to ride it there.

well on arrival handed bike over and then went into the shop.... for the well trained people you just sit down, no the Mrs walks in & starts looking at new bikes.
Then I was lucky. She could not touch the floor flat footed. & the salesman went over & says they do a small seat conversion. Dam I know what’s happening here. but luck strikes again, no lower seat.
I’m On the loosing streak when she leaves contact details of when the seat arrives for it to be fitted so she can try the bike.

plus point, bike passes MOT but had to ride home in the rain, Only to find my 10YO sidi boots are split & need replacing

Me fridge slept frew the night ok. Edgar is appy wivvit as he's by the kitchen door oat side and the fridge is by the door inside. When said door is open he can see it. He's puzzled by it though. Had to eggsplain about keeping food cold to make it last longer. He's already puzzled as to why we heat me castle but this has made it worse as we have to cool food which lives in a heated castle.

When eye first opened its door there was paperwork. Kept the uk energy rating fing. Chucked the EU one oat. Spottid they both be F rating… Burreye bortid an A** one. So this morning eye chats wiv argos ont line. Teld them the rating is wrong ont their advert. Eye picked it because of the efficiency. Was given the option of a refund and they collect. Also could swap it or 40 sovs discount. Norappy wiv that. Messing about boxing it and waiting ferra nuvva. Sod that. Eye won't have anywhere ter keep me milk. Eye likes the build quality compared to what eye seen int currys of other brands. Eye paid more ferrit than eye could. Twice the price of the cheaper ones.

Eye points out the cost of collection and the fact eye has opened and used it overnight means they can't sell it as new. Pointed oat eye have effectively gorra cheaper F rated fridge and paid more ferrit. They sell other small larder fridges at 270. Then eye spottid some more at 210 and 220 sovs. They said the energy rating scale is changing. Looks like their picture and burb is the old A** and the new scale makes it an F. Asked em if they could discount it to the value of an F rated fridge but they said they dun't know how to price the difference so eye asked em if they could price match to one of the other F rated fridges. After a bit they came back wiv a 110 sovs discount. Thas one furd oft. Result.

Eye is norappy having to do this but companies need to make sure their adverts is right. Eye will put me emotional feelings aside and keep the sovs ont this occasion, knowing that eye has saved em more sovs by not taking their kind offer of a full refund and collection. It would be a waste of a fridge anorl. Especially assit would upset edgar.

SWMBO has just gone to the seaside with her sister. Will be gone for a week. Made sure I checked her tyres and fluids before they left (don't want them breaking down and coming home :D). Fridge freezer well stocked and beer supplies good, so I will survive. In peace. :).

Will I send out the invitations now?

Well today was interesting.
You may remember we were supposed to go to Soreze for their "vide grenier et brocante" (boot sale and antique faire), all the towns and villages usually have one or more a year and the whole town seems to have a stall or stalls laid out around the streets.
Soreze is a very pretty and interesting "Bastide" town (built in a circle). It is also a sort of big artists' colony.
so we drove the 45 mins or so to get there.
No sign of it.
Wifey checks on the internet, "look for yourself" she says.
I point out that today there is a "vide maison" Equivalent of a garage sale. One punter flogging their junk. with an address.
She then scoots around tinternet and finds ALL the "vides greniers" on today, her's has a red flag "annulé" Cancelled!
No matter, I am not bothered, we 've been to enough of them.
She can't stop apologising.;)
I tell her it really isn't a problem, we'd been outside a café supping a beer and a wine, so we set off to find a meal. We found a fascinating place that did what the French call "tapas", prolly nothing like eSpanish ones.
So we shared two "boards" one of cheeses and one of charcuterie. We then had two fabulous salads. They didn't mess about they came in big glass bowls, then sweets and coffees. all washed down with a demi-de-rouge. And a pleasant convo with a couple from Toulouse who told me something very interesting about Chopin. (Their little dachshund was called Chopin so.....)
We then had a wee toddle around the town, i took some pics on my mobile cellular phone,:eek::eek::eek:
Which I then managed to email to my laptop. GET ME!!!!!!:eek::eek:
So I was able to muck around with them a bit in IPE.
So here are a few.
