Ive had both mud and road tyres, mud = gash in the wet for our roads hit a puddle an the landy
wants to kill you :eek: cooper sst is what I have now used them all winter much better on fuel and
road noise, I sold the bfg's muds, ive also had bfg all terrains which are great more road noise
then the sst's more aggressive tread pattern which is better for our snowy conditions. :)

In simplerer terms… I take regular backups of me phooter. Theory being if me phooter breaks eye I still have a copy of me files so won't lose anyfink. If windows plays up then eye can restore a backup to it. The backup is effectively a complete copy of me hard drive. That includes the dell recovery hidden partition and some other hidden stuff to do wiv the magic that makes yer phooter work.

Eye will soon upgrade from win 7 to win 10 using the free upgrade option. I wanted to test this before eye did it so I chopped my physical hard drive into two partitions ont same drive using software to do it. Tis called Disk Manager on yer phooter. Me phooter see's the two partitions as two logical separate drives. Eye copied me win 7 installation to the second drive in anticipation of making me phooter dual boot. Hence the option to boot to win 7 on one drive or the other. Each windows environment is different to the other. Eye would then upgrade one drive to win 10 to see if eye gets problems.

I did this but somefink went wrong with the drive partition. There's hidden stuff on yer hard drive to tell yer phooter how and where to read certain data onnit, so it can boot up. Bootmgr 'boot manager' is one of many of those files. Mine got messed up or deleted when eye converted to dual boot. Hence me phooter couldn't boot to windows A or B. on the different drives, at all. Not even safe mode would allow it to boot with restricted driver support. Big problem.

Normally me backups are done when windows is running so reasonably fast. About 3 hours. On this occasion I had to make another backup to capture changes over the last 6 weeks, but could only do this when running DOS. DOS is a bit like the foundation on yer house. It's the low level disk operating system that windows sits on top of. The drivers controlling me phooters hardware run slower in dos mode so backups and restores take much longer. Backup time being 15 hours. I chose to make another to capture the changes since the last backup 6 weeks ago so eye didn't lose any emails or files eye had stored. Pic's of ma hippo anorl.

When you restore a backup it should be like for like what yer had before when creating the backup. When restoring a backup yer need to tick the option to fix/repair/modify the boot setup like the missing file Bootmgr. Eye forgot to tick this so had to restore the backup a second time. Again, at DOS level so it takes much longer. About 5 hours. It worked and allowed windows to boot so eye fort the problem was fixed. Me phooter was back working again, but as it was 6 weeks ago. To solve that eye then put the lasted backup on it and it failed again. So eye put the 6 week old backup back ont. This time that failed to boot anorl.

Messed about wivvit some more then remembered eye created a dell windows diagnostic fing some years ago. Yer click a fing and yer phooter creates a piece of diagnostic recovery softer onna usb memory stick. Eye plugged that int and let it run. It can repair problems like sorting out Bootmgr file. Let it do that then restarted me phooter and it was back working again wiv me latest backup onnit. Problem solved.

They also understand that a 3 month notice period will make it difficult for me to leave so have offered to amend my employment contract in such a way that I have now effectively handed my notice in and once the obligatory 3 month notice period is up that I'll be on a rolling 1 month contract making it easier (hopefully) for me to find new employment. I thought this was a nice gesture. :)

I will read this again later when I am more compos mentis.
At home in blighty I have a backup thingy that runs all the time and constantly backs up my files. But it don't back up and progs etc.

What's up with the kitchen?
 
Just woke from a nap. Could feel meself going while ont me phooter.

Ordered meself a fast external drive from pcworld. Wouldn't let me put me voucher frew the web site so went to the shop. Burd there helped me by putting it ont web site via her account. Two vouchers wurked ok. Last one be no good as eye gave her the wrong pin number. Will spend it next time. Had a look at their lectric stuff and couldn't find the fridge and freezer eye wanted so eye ordered them from argos smornin int stead. Made the mistake of them coming int two weeks time so eye cancelled the order and put them frew separate. Freezer next week and fridge week after.

Been ordering a lot of stuff this week. Only stuff eye can't get from chops. Gottid me bolts from screwdfix. Engine oil from opie oil for ma hippo. Haldex oil and filter from bell for ma hippo. Air and ol filter from main dealer for ma hippo. Gottid some twix from sainsberrys for meself. They had crumpits anorl.
 
On the way out today we were slowed down by this.
