I turned 50 this year so retiring now even though I can would be a pizz take and I’ll end up on a manslaughter charge if confined to HQ 7 days a weekYes indeed, but the "purpose" could be to live & long & happy "rest of life" doing things that you really enjoy instead of working for the man.
My Brother-in-Law (Martin) refuses to retire for the same reasons as you, but like you he has cut his hours to 3 days a week.
He will be 75 this year and he shows no signs of keeling over.
