Well weird feckin day today.
For a kick off it was stupid hot. and as Wifey and i had a a slow get up it was past 12 noon before I started on the Disco.
Went to loosen the wheel nuts and this happened.
FIRST bloody nut i went to loosen which you'll remember I had only taken off a coupla days ago!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have only ever burst one other socket before in my life. Mind you, this one dates back to 1980.
So had to proceed with other kit, got the offending wheel off, removed the calliper and two perfectly good pads fell out.
WTF?
But yes there was a bit of oily muck due to the leaky hub seal, it must have covered up the edge of the pad and convinced me that it was a problem. Nevertheless there had been a screeching sound and nasty smell, so all back together and started on the other wheel. Again nowt wrong with the pads but I noticed a slight groove in the disc which hadn't been there before and, sho nuff, the pad bore the mark of a foreign object having nestled in its bosom for a little while.
So problem solved and no need to change pads. :)
Haven't even opened the box!
They will stay here as spares.;)

The heat was 30 degrees in the shade when I packed up and went to see what Wifey was up to. And I had been working in the sun, the tools could not be left in the sun or I couldn't pick them up.

So Wifey had found some potatoes from last year, so she picked them all and i made a potato salad with them. cooked a "faux filet" steak in a pan I don't normally use, a heavy le Creuset number with the raised ridges to give the brown lines on it. Wifey goes mad if I cook a steak the way I want to i.e. get the pan smoking hot then throw it in and cook it real fast so it is rare in the middle but well-browned on the outside. so I was a good little boy and cooked it on a lower heat.
Sat down to eat and spat the first mouthful out. Disgusting. Why oh why can all French restaurants supply you with a decent steak but it is so hard to buy a decent one? Even our favourite butcher whose meat is to die for, can't sell us a good steak. Only ones I can stand come form the meat counter in Leclerc but we bought this piece of sh!t in Auchan. But the way it was cooked doubtless had something to do with it. Think I'll grill it from now on. :(
So the dogs ate it.;);)
Made up for it with cheese and the pot salad was lovely. (Wifey offered me cold meat and stuff but I couldn't be assed, it was so hot and I was knacked. she was eating salad, we often eat different stuff what with her allergies and likes and dislikes)
So bi of a wasted day really for me. She did tons of weeding, so was happy.;)
