... It is rare that it happens but sometimes a long-term spouse/partner/significant other will unwittingly gift you with an opening for a witty response.
Today's chuckle occurred about 2 hours after a discussion regarding where to site a large powder-coated display stand that my brother made some years ago and that has been hidden behind shrubbery (because it was so hideous and not very useful). We had discussed whether I wanted to chop it up and use the steel for bike parts or other projects, whether we should offer it to our next door neighbour, or whether we should stand it out the front at the end of the driveway to let the scrap-man take it.
So, some 2 hours later ( a long disconnect) later she randomly approaches me as I am cutting up scaffold boards and says (out of the blue) "I think I'll take it up the back.".
She looked mystified and a little puzzled when I raised an eyebrow, smiles and said "That's terribly sporting of you old girl, I promise to start off slowly."
Then she realised what she had just said and slapped my arm and told me I was a bad boy.
