I recon i'll leave it on! protection, there'll be someone to drag me off when the inevitable happens!

Hey mate, I am leaving my towbar exactly where it is. Some people have told me to get rid... but like DB once told me.... its the only protection my fuel tank has got! Lets face it the damn car is no good to me with £70 worth of fuel running down the lane in front of it!

Jamie,
Have you checked the sills? cos 90 percent of the time they rot out as much as the boot floor and rear arches/seatbelt mounts. You can buy most panels but the welding has to be 100% to pass the MOT, expecially the seat belt mounts and around the body mounts.

Paddocks do the repair parts but nothing fits as per LR specs. Lots of jigging, lots of lifting up and making tools to hold the body so it does not flex. Its not a job I would wanna be doing done it once on my dads M reg disco took about 2 or 3 weeks of after work. Its solid now better than new. Don't under estimate the ammount of jig making and body supporting you have to do to keep it anywhere near straight. That was just the boot floor not the inner wings or sills they were ok. Jai

sorry been a while doin lots of bits, sills just need a little patch, footwells are now all patched up with 3mm steel, boot floor wont be here till next week and im away so will need doin wen i get back from holiday, im getting all new inner wheel arches coz it will be easyerso i wiil have those to do aswel, could u giv me n e mre info on the boot floor as i cant afford a mistake, im gona waxoil the the underbody and hammerite the chassis and axle's aswel, only a couple of hundred on new parts and ill have a vurtualy new disco lol, got bush kit on the way aswel, hope u all have a good weekend, im gona see if i can find any in the bogna regis area why im there, make sur u get lots of pics and dont brake anything:D:D:D

Jamie,

It took us ages but its a propper job. The main thing is to identify why water is getting in usuallysun roof leaking and the top corner windows leaking. once the water leak is cured then its time to start welding. Have you checked the rear body mounts. These can be very rusty and somtimes collapse. I do remember trying to make up some stronger rear body xmembers x3 and I ended up driving up to paddocks on a Sat morning in my new to me Vaux nova hammering it all the way to buy 3 new ones as they were only £6 each or somthing silly. We then made them stronger and re painted them and refitted. The Highlift was used alot for holding the rear body up while we were making metal good. Would suggest you go and buy a few decent drill bits made for spot welds it made the job so much faster. Jai

It seems that my alloy wheels on the disco have been experiencing a few problem with the wheel nuts. A couple of them have expanded and wont come off. Well they probably will with a hammer and a slightly oversized socket. Bloody typical, going to be working on those tomorrow when I get back from LRE!

OK Lady Luck has deserted me.

Kai and I are going to have to miss out on this weekend. Unfortunately a client who was supposed to transfer some money into my account has failed to do so. This has left me a few hundred quid lighter than expected... (fuel money!), Rent has to take precedence so sorry ''n' all that but we're going to be restricted to a whaddon visit on sunday.

Good luck to all of you and don't break anything (too badly;))

We are out around Hemel for a couple of hours on Sunday morning and you are more than welcome to join us Carpy.
