Rob,

A Disco II with traction control and difflock is a truly awsome beast if the tyres that are on the ground have some grip. Its almost asif the vehicle is fitted with difflocks in the front and rear axles. whichever wheel starts to spin it will lock it up with the brake putting power through the axle diff center to the opposite wheel that has the weight/grip pulling the disco through the crap. TC alone will work well but being able to lock that centre diff will stop the TC locking up a both wheels on an axle if there is a differential between it and the other axle. Jai

P.s has anyone seen the youtube vids of stannage edge? I looked a few up on youtube but mostly were idiots being twots but a few were good. Jai

Don't remove it!! It protects the fuel tank. Unless you have some other protection and or tow points would not advise removal. I'm pretty sure you can navigate down there without getting stuck better to be wedged on the tow bar than bend the rear body up. Jai

Good and bad points for both ... My towbar (you can just see it in the pic) scraped over maybe five steps, but didn't actually hangup on any .. unlike North Yorkshire when it got bent into the diesel tank! Took a Defender and a rock or two to straighten it out enough for tank clearance.

The pics are front and back of the towplate after removal .. needed grinding off .. ;)

If you fit a diff lock to a D2, does it just overide the TC whilst it's locked...and disable the TC?

Unless your doing hardcore off-roading I think you can get away with just the TC.

Depending on if the Disco is started with the diff lock engaged or not means you can have TC and ABS fully functional or working under reduced parameters.

Also because a diff lock is proactive rather than reactive like TC it causes less damage.
