Righto spyderman now you have this kit (its not for laning) so when are we going to Roundhill??

Punch??

4th Nov treasure hunt, CSMA,

Need to get your front springs on for that!!

Would be nice to give the offroader a blast but thinking sept is pushing it nov is more realistic 750 tyres baby no did flocks see how terrible it will be!!

Spyderman, what on earth have you done to that poor little series? Mutant Ninja Landy!

Hahahaha it certainly looks mean, when you putting a cage on it? or should that be when you putting it in a cage? Outstanding anyway. Glad you had a good day laning, hope to catch up again soon.

Kev, a cage is on the list, but probably won't do that till I change the chassis for a modded galvanised one. Internal rear external front I think.

Diverting a little as you know a lot about defenders. I've got steering problems. Stiff and notchy and hard work to drive. Worst on left hand turns. Any ideas. Can't find play anywhere and sprayed steering ujs with wd40.

Run the engine, turn left to right while topping up the PAS fluid.
Bet this cures it

Bleeding the system may cure it for a while.

You need To Find Out why you have air in the system if it is
Indeed the problem

Can you see any leaks?? Pas pump a ok? Check the end float on the pas
Pump pulley if it's excessive factor in a new Pump.

Many things could cause problems that could be described ad notchyness depending how it feels and checking.

Pas fluid low causes tight spots in the steering when turning I.e turning quickly right it's tight then becomes light again

Fixing the problem i.e airEsr2740
Getting into system via leak, faulty
Hose, hose connection, Pump or Seal etc

Again depending how It feels it may be
More mechanical then need to look further at steering components

How did today go after the false start??

Bit of a late reply but it was a good day out
The discovery looks like I've been rubbing it down with some 80 grit but that's how it goes you cant worry about these things
First time out with this gang and a good bunch of guys they are too
But a big thanks to spyderman for leading the run especially after he had to fix a prop before the day had barely started most of us would of just called it a day
So with that said il be up for the next outing 'work permitting '

Ref steering problem.

Lets assume you have checked the PAS fluid and all is well. Low fluid and air in the system will give you a serious "groaning" which is easily recognisable.

Without inspecting the vehicle I can give you an educated guess/shot in the dark regarding the stiff/notchy steering. But if your description is correct it will be the steering column UJs. The WD40 lube now wont cure siezed UJs. You can keep out the water and crap on your new ones by using some grease before they sieze.

Another common issue will give you an initial stiff steering upon attempting the turn but will then ease and give you smooth powered steering until full lock is reached. Sticky internal valves in the PAS box causes this.

Good luck.

Guys - Does anyone know somewhere or someone local in herts that can weld a straight through exhaust pipe for me without it costing me an arm and a leg? Looking just to have silencer cut out middle and back box and straight through welded in to replace. Any ideas?
