If your going to Bures change your pads after. The sand wears them out in no time.
Bures pit is next weekend, never been is it any good?
So is whaddon & devils pit i think.
I bet they can drive home afterwards tho!!!
I see the bedfordshire lanes have got a extended tro until 22may depending on weather. Also forty foot lane has got tro till September. I wonder if that will ever open again. How long has that been closed?
I think this is the 4th year. I've had lengthy conversations with Adrian Fett about it, he cites H&S for the reason for closure to motor vehicles which is crazy. Fine to ride it on a horse or walk down it, much more chance of hurting yourself falling of a horse than it is driving it in a Landy.
The guy is oblivious to our point of view, he thinks unless it's flat as a pancake and hard it shouldn't be open to traffic. The worst that could happen in forty foot is that you get stuck, plenty of people to get you out though, what's the problem? Forty Foot is in the middle of nowhere, it's not as if it's used by walkers or horse riders, who'd want to ride a horse near a top fuel dragster?
Are there no restrictions on the lanes around Essex.
No, although they have surfaced quite a few in recent years.
The job they do on them is a bit OTT in that you could drive them in a Fiesta, which just encourages fly tipping and concentrates the use on the lanes that haven't been surfaced because no one wants to drive the surfaced ones.
Well today we pulled apart spitfiremk1uk old v8 3.5 he rebuilt some years ago for an sd1 we reckon it had done some 10 to 20k miles in and sat in the garage ever since. The plan is to use this in the little 80 inch series 1 trialer in place of my unknown 3.9 engine.
The engine is now in bits pistons are out and parts will be brought tomorrow new rings big ends and head gaskets. Before removal the engine got warm due to a dodgy rad in the SD1 and a very enthusiastic uncle towing the titanic II back from teignmouth.
Anyway its looking good!! Big thanks to Andy for today!! I will remove the rest of the front timing cover from the 3.9 tomorrow after picking up the new bits and see about a clutch flywheel etc Friday.
How's everyone been latley v quiet on here
