Well... I got an auto gearbox and transfer box and a manual gearbox... only thing is that it looks as though the bellhousing is different size to the one I took off... in fact it is several inches shorter...

They are all supposed to be from a 200 tdi... any ideas about the discrepancy?

auto box and disco lt77 and r380 will be the same lenght ,r380 has slightly shorter bell housing than lt77 as rear extension housing is longer on r380 ,defener lt77 is obviously shorter

ryder you reckon your old box was an r380 as james says the bell housing is shorter but overall length and importantly the transfer box position should be the same

I realise it's not a landy,

or even a 4x4,

or even a diesel,

but it does have a turbo, this is my new toy :D

not much work done today but.....one side mostly welded up just a top plate and 2 holes and thats one side done!

Then its onto the other side to do. Got loads of axles to cut up and modify to fit leafs.

Jobs to go:

get a couple of dies re thread spring center bolts,
cut off axle mounts from series axle,
get defender axle here and remove mounts,
finish welding up first out rigger,
get on with second outrigger,

clean up and paint salisbury rear axle
mount rear springs on salisbury axle,
mount rear axle, move rear spring hangers

Looks like you are still busy at it Jai... Kai did the water pump on the Chrysler today. Had to help him to move the auto tensioner but apart from that he had it sorted! Now we can drive without over heating every five minutes!

What's a clutch damper? Looking at one on ebay where I was trying to find a replacement clutch assy to order... found a clutch damper but do not recognise it as being anything I have removed from my vehicle!
