From what you said in the pub, problem is either slave or master cylinder or both.
I changed both in the end to sort mine. Perfect since.

The problem is defiantly in the back somewhere. If I clamp the flexi hose to the back axle then the pedal is rock hard, so something is going back there. The garage have had it on the power bleeder so I don't think there is any air in there. There is no sign of weeping from the slaves. Ho hum, the delights of series ownership..
I might get chance to take another look tomorrow.

Is the hose in good condition, if it's weakened it'll stretch and absorb the pressure.
 
Bedtime for me, taking the Mrs. to GTW at 5:00, she's off to Tenerife for 3 days.

Have a great day tomorrow guys! Sorry I can't make it... but once the landy is done I will be there immediately (of course there is the chance that all the lanes will be shut by then!)

I think I have decided to try to patch all the little bits of the floor that are fubarred... I know it is a lot but the fact isthat I already have shedloads of steel and an abundance of time - since I plan to either chequerplate over the flor or panel it with ply then even of the patches are not brilliant it should not make a lot of difference to the overall result.

Finished off the rear cross member where the rear bumper bolts on, with another patch and a lick of paint today - Looks pretty good and will be pumping waxoil into the rear section of the chassis over the next day or two... on to the floor tomorrow then!

We live and learn eh!

Ref **** brakes 109.

If the brake pedal is rock hard and high when the rear flexi hose is clamped then you have 2 possible issues.

1. Air in the system at the back axle.
2. Poorly adjusted rear brakes.

Solution is to jack up both rear wheels and then use the brake adjusters (snail cams) to lock both shoes solid and do that both sides.

Now try the pedal without the clamp.

If the pedal is hard now then it is simply an adjustment issues. Simply re adjust the brakes properly.

If the pedal is still long/soft then it is a air in the system issue.

If the brakes refuse to bleed properly then you should strip down the brakes and check the rear wheel cylinders for brake fuid leaks. if they are leaking it is likely they are drawing air in as well as letting fluid out.

but those are your two basic issues.
