Tight? Well you would't want a loose one!

6ft bar shoulda ripped the head off if nothing else

What size is it? 19mm 22mm?

Which way are the threads, left or right. You turning them the right way?

Afternoon All,

I know there are no doubt a million threads on this but I wanted the opinion of some of you guys. Namely Jai;

I’m looking at fitting diff lock to the rear of my 90, my thoughts are a KAM locker unit with half shafts and hubs from Ashcroft. Anyone had any experience or thoughts??

Hope everyone is well. hopefully get to a pub meet soon.

I’m planning a Wales trip in about 2 months be 5days driving and camping if anyone is interested let me know, all the route is prepared and ready to go.

Cheers All

I'd be interested, let me know nearer the time. I'll be back in Shropshire by then so its not as far to go!! :)

Kam nice lockers. shafts defo go ashcroft route tbh kam used to have a fail safe built in and was although stronger than std not as good as ashcroft.

kam lockers used to lock using the internal gears which works fine puts alot of load through the small gears some people didn't like the way they locked.

I like detroits and ascroft have new range that look promising! Take a look see.

Don't buy a detroit for a rover axle ashcroft stopped selling them for a reason salisbury ones are still ok

Cheers Jai, I have just picked up this month’s LRO mag and seen the Ashcroft lockers in there. I might take a look, I was hoping to get away from the air locker tho but we shall see, I believe Kam still have a failsafe in there shafts e.g. designed to snap at certain load and not release metal slivers into the diff (I’m not sure I would trust that personally)

BenjP;

I will let you know when I book the time off work for dates etc but is sure to be a blast, I done the route last year was amazing, beautiful scenery and really tricky trails

swings n roundabouts broken shaft or knackared diff centre but to mangle a diff centre its HUGH force required far more than a Kam shaft will take best bet would be use std drive flanges HD diff centre and shafts in the hope you rip the centres out the flanges as the last fuse in the link. 5 minute swapping out a drive member or strip and rebuild a diff/shafts i know the std drive members are pretty strong i machined one down ALOT to the point of ow its a wee bit thin for my liking and i still broke a front shaft instead of it ripping out. So i think unless your runningm 40 inch tractor tyres wist serious power i'd leave the drive flanges std.
